About the role

\n

We're looking for an experienced Infrastructure Engineer to join our Technology Operations team and help run, support and continually improve the enterprise infrastructure that underpins the firm’s operations across our hybrid on-premises and cloud environments. This is a hands-on role where you'll take ownership of complex technical issues, support junior team members and contribute to infrastructure projects and improvements focused on reliability, security and performance.

Your key responsibilities include:

\n

Maintain, troubleshoot and enhance hybrid infrastructure across on-premises, Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services (AWS) environments.

\n

Act as an escalation point for Systems Administrators, investigating complex incidents, performing root cause analysis and implementing preventative measures.

\n

Design and implement highly available, resilient and scalable infrastructure solutions aligned with business, security and operational requirements.

\n

Support and maintain core infrastructure services including Windows Server, Active Directory, Entra ID, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy and Microsoft 365 services.

\n

Deliver infrastructure upgrades, migrations, technology refreshes and new solution deployments, including patching, vulnerability remediation and lifecycle management.

\n

Use infrastructure as code and automation technologies such as Terraform, Pulumi, CloudFormation, PowerShell and Python to deliver consistent and repeatable infrastructure.

\n

Maintain monitoring, alerting, logging and observability across infrastructure platforms using tools including AWS CloudWatch, Azure Monitor and Log Analytics.

\n

Support infrastructure security, hardening and compliance initiatives aligned with frameworks including Essential Eight, CIS Benchmarks, ISO 27001 and Microsoft Secure Score.

\n

Develop and maintain backup, disaster recovery and business continuity solutions and identify opportunities to improve infrastructure reliability, scalability and operational efficiency.

\n

Collaborate with cloud, network, security, application and business teams and manage relationships with technology vendors and service providers.

\n

Maintain high-quality technical documentation, infrastructure diagrams, operational procedures and as-built configurations.

\n

Participate in the team's on-call roster and provide out-of-hours support for critical business systems and incidents when required.

\n

About you

\n

You're an experienced infrastructure or systems engineering professional who enjoys solving complex technical problems and takes ownership from diagnosis through to resolution. You bring a calm, methodical approach to operational issues and are equally comfortable working autonomously, collaborating across technology teams and sharing your knowledge with junior colleagues.

\n

You’ll bring a combination of the following experience, knowledge and capabilities:

\n

Five or more years’ experience in infrastructure engineering, systems engineering or a similar enterprise IT operations role.

\n

Experience supporting medium to large-scale enterprise environments across on-premises and cloud platforms.

\n

Strong knowledge of Microsoft Azure and AWS across infrastructure as a service (IaaS) and platform as a service (PaaS) services.

\n

Experience with Windows Server and Microsoft infrastructure technologies, including Active Directory, Entra ID, Group Policy, single sign-on (SSO) and multi-factor authentication (MFA).

\n

Experience with infrastructure as code and automation tools such as Terraform, Pulumi, Bicep, CloudFormation, PowerShell, Python and YAML (YAML Ain’t Markup Language).

\n

Experience with infrastructure monitoring and observability tools including AWS CloudWatch, Azure Monitor and Log Analytics.

\n

Strong understanding of infrastructure security, vulnerability management, hardening and relevant security and compliance frameworks.

\n

Experience with Microsoft 365 workloads, server and storage technologies, backup, disaster recovery and business continuity.

\n

Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, together with experience in incident and change management.

\n

Microsoft Azure Administrator, AWS Solutions Architect Associate or Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) Foundation certifications are highly regarded. Experience supporting hybrid environments is also advantageous.
