Therapeutic Youth Worker - Specialist Homelessness Service

About The Role

This position is situated within the Specialist Homelessness Service which provides support and accommodation to young people who are homeless, or at risk of becoming homeless.

The Therapeutic Youth Worker is responsible for the delivery of high quality residential supports that promotes the emotional, social and behavioural needs of vulnerable young people.

We have multiple casual roles available. Must be available for sleepover shifts.

Primary Objectives

• Provide trauma-informed accommodation and support services that achieve positive outcomes for young people and their families;
• Provide young people with safety, stability, predictability and consistency by implementing therapeutic routines and individual plans for young people;
• Participate in team meetings, house meetings and case review meetings to ensure that young people receive services that meet their needs.

Key Selection Criteria

The incumbent will have:

• Demonstrated skills and experience in youth services, residential care or supported accommodation;
• Demonstrated understanding of youth homelessness;
• Demonstrated ability to relate to and work with young people with social, emotional and behavioural difficulties;
• Demonstrated ability to implement case plan goals for young people with challenging behaviours;

You Must Have a

• Valid and current Driver’s Licence;
• Satisfactory Criminal History Check (paid for by MacKillop);
• Valid Employee Working with Children Check;
• Valid and current NDIS Workers Screening Check (for risk assessed / client facing roles). MacKillop can assist successful candidates with their application.
• Valid First Aid certificate with at least 6 months validity.
