Allied Therapeutic Services (ATS) is a multidisciplinary allied health provider with clinics in Cairns, Townsville, Ayr, Mackay and Charters Towers. Our Occupational Therapists, Psychologists, Speech Pathologists and Positive Behaviour Support practitioners work with children, adults and older people in our clinics, in homes, schools and daycares, and via telehealth.

About the role

Reporting directly to the Clinical Director, you'll be undertaking a join role that shares across approximately 60% of time responsible for the supervision, education and development of tools, templates and resources for our Occupational Therapy team across five clinics. You'll set the standard for quality Occupational Therapy practice, build the capability of every Occupational Therapist in the team, and lead the improvement work that keeps our services strong.

The remaining 40% of your week is working as the Cairns clinical hub lead working directly with the local clinicians in overseeing their day-to-day activities.

This role does not incorporate practice management and is responsible for the clinical team only and has excellent practice management and admin support in place for the hub.

PART 1: Clinical & Quality Occupational Therapy Educator

What you’ll do

Clinical supervision and professional development

• Provide regular individual and group clinical supervision to all Occupational Therapists across ATS, in person and via telehealth
• Support our Occupational Therapists through structured training & development program, and keep our clinicians current and growing.
• Identify skill gaps across the team and design training that closes them.
• Design and deliver the graduate program for New Graduate Occupational Therapists.
• Join clinicians in client sessions to model, observe and give practical feedback as part of learning.
• Work alongside the hub leads to ensure awareness of clinical level, strengths and vulnerabilities or all occupational therapists in their team.
• Plan and facilitate Occupational Therapy discipline meetings that clinicians find genuinely useful and productive, including evidence updates and peer learning.
• Keep the team current on the evidence, NDIS and aged care requirements, and professional standards.
• Be the go-to person for complex clinical questions and ethical decision-making.

Quality improvement

• Deliver continuous quality improvement across our occupational therapy services and processes.
• Review and strengthen Occupational Therapy assessments, templates, report quality, documentation and procedures.
• Quality check all ATS Occupational Therapy reports prior to release.

PART 2: Clinical Hub Lead, Cairns

• Provide day-to-day clinical leadership to a multidisciplinary team of approximately 10 clinicians across Occupational Therapy, Speech Pathology, Psychology and Positive Behaviour Support
• Lead hub clinical meetings, case discussion and multidisciplinary planning
• Support clinicians through complexity, risk and escalation — the first call when something is difficult
• Work with the Clinical Director so every clinician has appropriate discipline-specific supervision
• Foster the culture: safe to ask, expected to grow, honest about what is not working
• Partner with the Cairns Practice Manager on service delivery, capacity and client experience

What you’ll bring

Essential

• Tertiary qualification in Occupational Therapy and current general registration with AHPRA.
• Confidence working with presentations across the lifespan, from early childhood through to older adults.
• Strong skills and passion in sharing and developing and mentoring other clinicians.
• Strong working knowledge of NDIS, Aged Care and Private practice and reporting requirements.
• Confidence writing and reviewing reports to NDIS Practice Standards and aged care requirements
• A track record of leading or contributing to quality improvement or practice change.
• Confident presentation and facilitation skills, with the ability to engage a group and keep it on track.
• Warm, clear communication, and the confidence to have honest conversations about practice.
• NDIS Worker Screening Check and a current driver's licence.
• Commercially aware approach - understanding the importance of financial viability in a private practice setting
• Ability to give direct, developmental feedback and hold a standard without deflating people

Desirable

• Formal training in clinical supervision or leadership
• Experience working in a multi-site or regional service
• Familiarity with clinical governance frameworks.

What we offer

• Base salary of $125,000 - $145,000 (skill dependent) plus superannuation
• 60% of your time protected for supervision, training and development work
• 40% of your time for the leadership and management of your local team.

Important information
