JOB DESCRIPTION

\n

The primary purpose of the Geospatial Analyst role is to leverage advanced geographic information systems (GIS) and analytical tools to collect, process, analyze, and visualize spatial data. This position plays a critical role in interpreting geographical information to support various projects, initiatives, or decision‐making processes. By employing cutting‐edge geospatial technologies and methodologies, the Geospatial Analyst provides insights, creates accurate maps, and generates actionable intelligence for a wide array of applications.

This individual collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to address spatial challenges, conduct spatial analysis, and deliver data‐driven solutions that contribute to informed strategic planning, resource management, environmental monitoring, and other related projects. The role requires a keen understanding of geospatial data, a strong grasp of GIS tools, and the ability to communicate findings effectively to stakeholders to aid in informed decision‐making and problem‐solving.

ABOUT YOU

\n

\n
• Provide an exceptional customer experience to all stakeholders, maintaining a positive and professional attitude in all interactions.
\n
• Provision of quality LIS/GIS data and support to system users and all clients, by providing analysis processing, interpretation, and advice on LIS/GIS data.
\n
• Creation, maintenance and editing of corporate LIS/GIS data held in a versioned corporate geodatabase as well as other non-corporate data.
\n
• Provision of quality hardcopy and online digital image and map products to internal and external clients.
\n
• Contribute to the administration, development, training and support for web‐based user interfaces to LIS/GIS systems and LIS/GIS applications.
\n
• Creation, configuration and maintenance of Council's geospatial web services.
\n
• Diagnosing and troubleshooting problems experienced with use of GIS and related systems.
\n
• Development and maintenance of GIS infrastructure and GIS web applications.
\n
• Identify and implement improvements in LIS/GIS system.
\n
• Use GIS system scripting languages to develop LIS/GIS software applications.
\n
• Document GIS Procedures.
\n

Qualifications/Licences

\n

\n
• Tertiary Qualifications in GIS, Computing Science, Information Technology or related discipline and/or equivalent demonstrated minimum 5 years' experience.
\n

\n

Experience

\n

\n
• Proven experience in the use and support of spatial (GIS) and associated attribute geodatabase systems.
\n
• Working experience of enterprise grade geospatial applications.
\n
• Formatting and production of hardcopy and online map products - 3 to 5 years.
\n

\n

Knowledge and Skills

\n

\n
• Knowledge of Work Health and Safety practices, the principles of Equal Employment Opportunity, ethical practice and multi-cultural diversity\
\n
• Design and implementation of spatial and non-spatial databases.
\n
• Administration of Web‐based LIS/GIS software and systems.
\n
• Knowledge of extraction and formatting of information and data.
\n
• Knowledge of scripting language used in GIS software to enhance usability.
\n
• Understanding of Geographic Information Systems and infrastructure,
\n
• Understanding of cartography and mapping principles
\n
• Understanding of principles of SQL geodatabase systems and data storage
\n
• Understanding of data quality control standards
\n
• Knowledge of ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes and data integration tools to connect data from different sources
\n
