About the Role

\n

The Inspire at Home program supports young people aged 12-18 in residential placements. Key Workers have a passion for promoting the emotional, psychological, and social well-being of young people and play a vital role in mentoring Youth Workers in their team to support children and young people to live their best life. Supports provided to our young people are focused on the domains of the Tasmanian Child and Youth Wellbeing Framework – being loved and safe, having material basics, being healthy, learning, participating, and having a positive sense of culture and identity.

Key Responsibilities

\n

As a Key Worker you will be responsible for supporting a team of Youth Workers, collaborating with Placement Leads and Therapeutic Specialists and working with young people to ensure the safety and well-being of children and young people in our care.

\n

Key workers will:

\n

\n
• Work with Placement Leads to maintain compliance with the relevant child safety legislation and regulation, as well as organisational policy and procedures.
\n
• Build and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders, families, and young people.
\n
• Implement therapeutic plans and safety plans in collaboration with the Placement Leads and Therapeutic Specialists.
\n
• Support Youth Workers to deliver a child centered service that promotes wellbeing and safety.
\n
• Support Youth Workers to maintain workplace health and safety checks, cleanliness of the property, and compliance checking.
\n
• Maintaining accurate and up to date records and ensure all required documentation is completed.
\n
• Facilitate team meetings and professional development activities.
\n
• Provide the day-to-day care of all children in the residential care setting and participate in appropriate recreational activities for and with the children.
\n
• Delegate tasks within the residential care setting.
\n

About You:

• Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills and competent in building relationships with young people.
\n
• Experience working in a team environment that has delivered client-centered services that achieve positive outcomes for clients.
\n
• The ability to handle the challenges and problem solve.
\n
• The ability to ensure that client documentation, reports and service delivery targets are completed to the required standards.
\n
• The ability to respond to staff grievances and disciplinary matters in consultation with Placement Leads and provide supervision responsibilities.
\n
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to use Microsoft Office, email, and web-based applications.
\n
• Ensure that appropriate client records and data are maintained.
\n
• As a key Worker you must be available to be on call and to provide support and assistance as required.
\n

Essential Requirements

\n

\n
• Minimum certificate IV in Youth Work, Community Service or equivalent experience.
\n
• Current Tasmanian Working with Vulnerable People Card
\n
• Current Tasmanian driving license, and
\n
• Current Provide First Aid training certificate or willing to obtain.
\n

Selection Criteria

\n

1. Commitment to the vision, mission and values of CatholicCare Tasmania, and a broad understanding of the operations of the Catholic Church in Tasmania.

\n

2. Working with young people in therapeutic residential care can involve handling emotional and behavioral challenges. How do you manage difficult situations while ensuring the young person and staff feels supported and respected? Can you provide a specific example?

\n

3. Demonstrate experience and understanding of the principles which underpin working within a care management model for young people.

\n

4. Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills which include the ability to negotiate, liaise and consult with young people, other colleagues and other service providers.

\n

5. Demonstrate leadership and administrative skills including the ability to manage aspects of the running of the house

\n

6. Possess a sound knowledge of relevant statutory requirements, including mandatory reporting, workplace health and safety, duty of care, privacy and confidentiality, children, young people and families act and anti-discriminatory legislation.
