Following this period, staff may request for working from home to be considered for up to two days per week for full-time staff and scaled back for 0.8 FTE and 0.6 FTE staff.This hybrid model allows us to stay collaborative and connected while also supporting our team to enjoy the benefits of flexibility and work–life balance.

Salary: $120,000 to $128,000 + super + NFP salary packaging

About the role
This is a 12 month part time maximum term contract starting in February 2027
The Public Health Registrar supports the Public Health Medical Officer(s) in their role of providing high-level public health expertise and advice to all program areas of VACCHO and VACCHO’s member ACCOs; supporting the quality improvement of health services to Aboriginal Victorians through continuous quality improvement (CQI) processes, sector capacity building, and advocacy to governments; and actively contributing to expert advisory bodies and health protection activities.
Essential skills/experiences
- Medical degree, and current registration as a Medical Practitioner with AHPRA.
- Relevant postgraduate qualifications or demonstrated experience in general practice or public health, preferably in a community context.
- Currently enrolled in the Australasian Faculty of Public Health Medicine (AFPHM) Advanced Training Program, or have or will meet the entry requirements for the AFPHM Advanced Training Program as per the new 2027 entry requirements (including postgraduate clinical experience and a master’s degree covering all core compulsory subjects) prior to commencement in the position.
- Knowledge and understanding of the issues affecting the health of Aboriginal Victorians, particularly public and primary health.
- Interest and demonstrated experience in supporting clinical quality improvement activities and leading change.
- Demonstrated ability to take initiative, and work both independently and as part of a team.
- Demonstrated project coordination and evaluation experience, including the ability to identify barriers and provide solutions.
- Highly developed written and oral communication skills including the ability to communicate clearly and effectively with clinical and non-clinical stakeholders.
- Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples are strongly encouraged to apply as your cultural and lived experiences are central to the work we do.
- Working for Community in a culturally safe Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation.
