Job description

The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2028 will be the biggest cricket world cup ever staged in the southern hemisphere — and this is your chance to be part of it.

Co‑hosted by Australia and New Zealand and operated by a Local Organising Committee (LOC), the tournament will bring together the world’s best teams and players, billions of fans and two nations passionate about delivering unforgettable global events. Across October and November 2028, cricket’s fastest and most exciting format will take centre stage on a truly global platform.

Working for the LOC presents an extraordinary opportunity for you to play a key role in uniting our communities through a spectacular festival of cricket that captures global attention and inspires the next generation of cricketers and fans.

You will be part of a passionate and dedicated team helping to build an unforgettable and truly unique event from the ground up. Every role contributes to creating moments that will be seen around the world and remembered for years to come.

If you’re energised by major events, thrive in fast‑paced environments and want your work to have global impact, this is an opportunity like no other.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We’re building the team that will bring the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2028 to life, and we’re looking for a Head of Tournament Technology to establish the technology foundations that will enable the LOC to operate and deliver a world-class tournament across Australia and New Zealand. This is a unique opportunity to shape the technology strategy, platforms and services for one of the world’s biggest sporting events.

As Head of Tournament Technology, you’ll lead the strategy, procurement, implementation, governance and operation of the LOC’s technology function. Working closely with the internal and external partners, you’ll establish core systems, Finance, HR, workforce, tournament and enterprise platforms, lead RFP and vendor selection processes, and build the team and operating model required for successful delivery.

From venue, event and broadcast technology to cyber security, service operations and tournament readiness, you’ll oversee delivery from design and procurement through implementation, testing, event-time operations and decommissioning. If you’re a strategic and hands‑on technology leader who can make timely decisions, build trusted partnerships and deliver complex programs in a fast‑paced environment, this is your chance to create the technology capability behind an unforgettable global event.

Based in Australia, this is a maximum term opportunity until November 2028.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent senior leadership experience. Postgraduate qualifications and relevant professional certifications are desirable.

10+ years’ technology leadership experience, including significant people leadership responsibilities, delivering large‑scale technology programs across complex, multi‑stakeholder environments.

Demonstrated experience leading technology delivery for major sporting events, stadiums, international events or comparable high‑profile operational environments.

Proven experience managing complex multi‑vendor environments, procurement activity, contracts and significant technology budgets.

Proven ability to create RFPs, evaluate vendor proposals, lead shortlisting and support rapid technology selection decisions.

Experience implementing Finance, HR or enterprise business platforms with external vendors and implementation partners.

Strong understanding of cyber security operations, resilience, risk management, service management and operational readiness.

Experience across cloud platforms, enterprise applications, data and analytics, end user computing and workplace technology.

Exceptional stakeholder engagement, communication and influencing skills across executive, technical, commercial and operational audiences.

Ability to lead under pressure in highly visible, time‑critical and operationally sensitive environments.

Collaborative leadership style with a strong commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging.

Ability to travel in and between Australia and New Zealand as required.

Knowledge of Australian sports and entertainment markets.

Experience operating across multiple jurisdictions.

OUR ORGANISATION

The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2028 is a global event, and our workforce reflects the diversity of the communities, cultures and nations it brings together. We are committed to creating an inclusive, respectful and high‑performing environment where everyone feels valued and empowered to contribute. We recognise that diverse perspectives, experiences and backgrounds strengthen our teams and are essential to delivering a world‑class tournament on the global stage.

The LOC encourages people from all walks of life to apply and is committed to being a child safe organisation. All team members based in Australia are required to hold a valid Working with Children Check.

Your experience matters to us. If you require any support or adjustments to take part in the application process, please let us know — we’ll work with you to ensure you can put your best foot forward.
