UQ Library Multiple Casual positions starting from $44.58 p/h, plus superannuation of 12% (HEW Level 2) Only open to UQ students currently enrolled in an undergraduate or postgraduate program of study, with at least one year of study remaining. Young Achievers Program students and students with mandarin speaking skills are encouraged to apply.
Based at our St Lucia campus (occasional shift opportunities at Gatton, Herston and/or Dutton Park).
About This Opportunity
Are you a friendly, reliable and proactive UQ student who enjoys meeting people, getting involved in events and helping others feel welcome? The UQ Library Student Experience team is looking for enthusiastic students to join our casual team and help create positive experiences for students across UQ. This is a great opportunity to build your communication, event and leadership skills while making a real difference to the student experience. As a Library Student Experience Casual, you’ll be part of a dynamic team delivering student events, activities and engagement initiatives throughout the year.
Key Responsibilities
- Welcoming and engaging with students at Library events and activities
- Leading Library tours and helping students discover Library spaces, services and resources
- Running information booths and providing friendly first-point-of-contact support
- Facilitating games, activities and interactive experiences
- Setting up and packing down events, including safely moving event equipment
- Supporting the preparation and delivery of Orientation and student engagement activities
- Collecting event information such as registrations and attendance numbers
- Capturing appropriate social media content during events
- Sharing student feedback and observations with the Library Student Experience team
- Helping students with basic Library enquiries and referring them to the right service when needed
About you
We’re looking for students who:
- Are currently enrolled in an undergraduate or postgraduate program at UQ, with at least one year of on-campus study remaining when commencing
- Enjoy meeting and talking to people from different backgrounds
- Are confident communicating with students and speaking in front of groups
- Are friendly, approachable and genuinely interested in helping other students
- Are responsible, proactive, reliable and comfortable working as part of a team
- Enjoy working in a creative, dynamic and inclusive environment
- Are available to work during key student engagement periods and agreed shifts
- Are comfortable working outdoors and safely lifting or moving event equipment
Desirable
Desirable: You don't need previous Library experience to apply. However, experience in any of the following would be helpful:
- Student leadership, peer mentoring or ambassador programs
- Events or customer-facing roles
- UQ clubs and societies or other student engagement activities
- An understanding of the transition to university and the experiences of students from diverse backgrounds
- An interest in helping students find the right Library services and support
Young Achievers Program students and students with Mandarin-speaking skills are particularly encouraged to apply.
