Civil Engineering Draftsperson required

The Job Company Pty Ltd on behalf of Vesta Designs Pty Ltd (ABN 63 648 757 064) is seeking skilled and qualified Civil Engineering Draftsperson to join our team in Glen Waverley, VIC 3150. The ideal candidates should have hands on experience in all the general duties and responsibilities of a skilled Civil Engineering Draftsperson.

Employment Type: Full-time (minimum 38 hours per week)

Task & responsibilities

• Prepare detailed drawings, plans and layouts of civil engineering structures and systems such as roads, bridges, drainage, stormwater, water supply and sewerage networks
• Develop 2D and 3D designs and models using CAD software (e.g. AutoCAD, Civil 3D, 12d Model, Revit)
• Interpret engineers' sketches, specifications, survey data and calculations to produce accurate construction drawings
• Prepare site plans, cross-sections, longitudinal sections and grading/earthworks plans
• Calculate quantities and estimate costs of materials, equipment and labour
• Check drawings for accuracy, compliance with Australian Standards, local council requirements and project specifications
• Revise and update drawings in response to design changes, engineer feedback and site conditions
• Prepare "as-constructed" drawings and maintain accurate drawing registers and document control records
• Liaise with engineers, surveyors, architects, contractors and council authorities to resolve design and drafting issues
• Assist with site inspections and gather field information to support design work
• Contribute to tender documentation and approval submissions
• Ensure all work meets company quality, safety and project deadline requirement

Qualification & experience

• Minimum experience of 6 months as a Civil Engineering Draftsperson or in a closely related civil drafting role
• Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Civil Engineering Design, Civil Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent relevant experience)
• Proficiency in CAD and civil design software (e.g. AutoCAD, Civil 3D, 12d Model, MicroStation) and familiarity with BIM processes
• Sound knowledge of Australian Standards, Austroads guidelines, local council requirements and civil construction methods
• Ability to interpret engineering calculations, survey data and specifications into accurate drawings
• Experience preparing drawings for roads, drainage, stormwater, water/sewer and earthworks projects
• Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work closely with engineers, surveyors and contractors
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
• Preference will be given to candidates based in Victoria
