About Us

At Warakirri College, we believe every young person deserves access to an education that meets them where they are.

We are seeking an exceptional educational leader to join our Executive Team as Head of Distance Education and lead one of NSW’s most innovative Distance Education Programs.

Our Distance Education Program supports young people who face significant barriers to attending a traditional school environment, providing a high-quality, engaging and personalised education that helps them reconnect with learning, achieve their HSC and build positive futures. The program forms part of Warakirri's broader mission to support vulnerable and disadvantaged young people through a trauma-informed, relationship-focused educational model.

Permanent – Full-time role. Based in our new Cabramatta campus from 2028, currently in temporary premises in Campbelltown.

About the role

This role sits within the College’s executive leadership team, providing strategic and operational leadership of the College's Distance Education Program, ensuring excellence in:

  • Student engagement, wellbeing and learning outcomes
  • Teaching and learning quality
  • Staff leadership and development
  • Digital learning innovation
  • NESA compliance and educational governance
  • Family and stakeholder engagement
  • Continuous improvement and growth of the program

You will lead a dedicated team of educators and support staff while driving innovative approaches that strengthen student participation, achievement and connection.

About You

You are an empathetic and experienced educational leader who:

  • Has a minimum of two years in a leadership role, with proven ability to lead, support and develop diverse educational teams.
  • Has a minimum of five years’ experience in a teaching or student welfare role.
  • Understands trauma-informed and student-centred educational practice
  • Is passionate about supporting vulnerable young people
  • Can build strong relationships with students, staff, families and stakeholders
  • Embraces innovation and technology-enabled learning
  • Thinks strategically while remaining connected to day-to-day operations
  • Demonstrates sound judgement, resilience and strong people leadership skills
  • Is able to develop strong community partnerships
  • Experience in special assistance, alternative, flexible, inclusive or distance education settings will be highly regarded.
