Manufacturing Team Member – Factory & Production Support

Factory Hand - Melton

Melton Vic factory

102 High Street, Melton, VIC, 3337, AUSTRALIA

MPI Automotive is a proudly Australian-owned business with over 50 years of manufacturing experience.

From our facilities in Belmont, Cunderdin and Melton, we manufacture and distribute the Manta range of performance exhaust systems throughout Australia and internationally. We continue to invest in our people, manufacturing capabilities and operational performance.

Many of our team members have built long-term careers with us, including several with more than 10 and 20 years of service. We believe in developing capable people from within and providing opportunities to those who demonstrate reliability, initiative and a willingness to learn.

About the Role

We are seeking a reliable and motivated Manufacturing Team Member to join our production team at Melton.

This is a practical, hands‑on position supporting the manufacture of Australian‑made performance exhaust systems. You will work across different areas of production, assisting tradespeople and machine operators while helping materials and components move efficiently through the factory.

This opportunity would suit someone who takes pride in practical work, follows established processes and wants to develop useful manufacturing skills.

Key responsibilities include:

Preparing and staging materials and components for production

Assisting welders, fabricators and machine operators

Moving work safely and efficiently between production areas

Using hand and power tools

Checking components against job requirements

Identifying and reporting damaged, incorrect or non‑conforming parts

Packing and preparing completed products

Maintaining clean, organised and safe work areas

Following production instructions, procedures and safety requirements

Helping reduce material waste, rework and production delays

Supporting continuous improvement across factory operations

The Person We Are Looking For

We are looking for someone who does more than simply turn up and complete assigned tasks.

The right person will:

Be dependable, punctual and ready to work

Take ownership and accountability for their responsibilities

Follow instructions, procedures and safety requirements

Take pride in producing accurate, quality work

Communicate clearly with team members and supervisors

Identify issues and raise them before they become larger problems

Be willing to learn different production processes

Work effectively as part of a team

Respect equipment, materials and the workplace

Contribute positively to productivity, quality and continuous improvement

This is a physical manufacturing role. Applicants must be able to safely perform the inherent requirements of the position, including standing for extended periods and handling production materials and components.

Experience and Skills

Previous factory or manufacturing experience would be advantageous, but it is not essential for an applicant with the right work ethic and attitude.

The following will be highly regarded:

Experience in manufacturing, fabrication or production

Mechanical aptitude or practical hands‑on experience

Experience using hand and power tools

Metalworking, welding or automotive industry exposure

Experience following production drawings, job cards or work instructions

Experience working within quality and safety processes

Training will be provided in relevant equipment, procedures and production processes.

This is more than an opportunity to perform general factory duties.

Team members who demonstrate reliability, capability and initiative may have opportunities to develop into areas such as:

Machine operation

Tube bending and component preparation

Welding and fabrication support

Quality inspection

Production coordination

Team leadership

Progression is based on demonstrated performance, business requirements and the ability to take on greater responsibility.

What We Offer

Stable, full‑time employment with an established Australian manufacturer

Monday to Friday work

Competitive hourly rate based on skills and experience

On‑the‑job training and development

Opportunities to learn multiple manufacturing processes
