We are looking for a Bookkeeper to join our Cranbourne team .
About the role
The Bookkeeper maintains accurate financial records for a portfolio of clients, preparing and lodging Business Activity Statements and other statutory returns, reconciling accounts and supporting month, quarter and year end processing. The role deals directly with clients on bookkeeping, payroll, GST and software matters, and works alongside the Accounting team to keep client records clean, current and compliant.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare and lodge Business Activity Statements and other statutory returns, including STP finalisation, TPAR and payroll tax declarations
- Perform bank reconciliations, record daily financial transactions and maintain general ledgers
- Assist the Accounting team with end of month, quarterly and yearly processing, including trial balance and financial report preparation
- Liaise directly with the ATO regarding client matters as required
- Provide professional, proactive support to clients, confidently resolving bookkeeping, payroll, GST and software related queries
- Communicate clearly in writing and in person, adapting communication style to suit diverse clients
- Assist clients with transitioning to cloud based software solutions, including setup, training and ongoing support
- Follow up with clients to obtain required documentation and ensure timely job completion
- Build an understanding of the industries in which allocated clients operate and identify future bookkeeping needs
- Review own work carefully and resolve issues before the job progresses
About you
- Minimum 3 to 5 years' relevant bookkeeping experience
- Experience preparing and lodging Business Activity Statements and Instalment Activity Statements
- Strong working knowledge of current GST and payroll compliance requirements
- Confident use of accounting software such as Xero, MYOB or QuickBooks, and strong Excel skills
- Demonstrated accuracy and attention to detail in own work
- Certificate IV in Accounting and Bookkeeping
- Experience gained within a public practice environment
- Experience with FYI Elite
- Experience supporting clients with software setup and training
- Exposure to STP finalisation, TPAR and payroll tax declarations
