Chef- Asian Cuisine

Canberra Labor Club is seeking a talented and experienced Qualified Chef - Asian Cuisine & Wok Specialist to join our busy kitchen team.

About the role

This hands-on role is ideal for an experienced chef with extensive knowledge of Asian cuisine and proven experience operating a commercial wok station. You will be responsible for preparing and cooking high-quality meals while maintaining consistency, efficiency and presentation standards during service. The successful candidate will be confident working across a variety of kitchen sections and contribute positively to a collaborative team environment.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and cook a variety of Asian cuisine dishes to a high standard.
• Ensure the consistent quality, presentation and timely delivery of meals.
• Follow all food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety requirements.
• Assist with stock control, stock rotation and minimising food wastage.
• Maintain a clean, organised and professional kitchen environment.
• Work effectively as part of a team to deliver an outstanding dining experience.
• Work across multiple kitchen sections as required.

About you

• Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or equivalent trade qualification.
• Minimum two years' experience operating a commercial wok station in a busy kitchen environment.
• Demonstrated experience preparing a range of Asian cuisine dishes.
• Strong skills across wok, grill, fryer, pan and preparation sections.
• Ability to work efficiently and maintain quality under pressure.
• Strong understanding of food safety and hygiene practices.
• Reliable, professional and team-oriented approach.
• Availability to work a rotating roster including evenings, weekends and public holidays.
