About the role:

Pregnancy Family Conferencing (PFC) uses family meetings with an independent facilitator to promote early engagement and interagency planning with pregnant women and families at risk of their newborns entering out of home care at birth.

The program utilises a strengths-based model which promotes a participatory and transparent process for parents and families. The Pregnancy Family Conferencing Facilitator is the primary facilitator of the Pregnancy Family Conferencing program across Murrumbidgee Local Health District (MLHD). The role is responsible for facilitating Pregnancy Family Conferencing meetings for expectant parents referred into the program and includes:

Working directly with the family and agencies to schedule and facilitate Pregnancy Family Conferences.

Developing and fostering strong interagency partnerships to sustain and further develop the program.

Participating in ongoing development, implementation, and evaluation of the program.

The role will also provide psychosocial clinical consultation and advice support to child and family health nurses working with children and families in the first 2000 days of life who have identified psychosocial complexity.

Our ideal candidate will demonstrate:

Tertiary qualifications in Social Work or Counselling with eligibility for membership with Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) or Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA).

Ability to apply and share expert child protection and violence abuse and neglect knowledge with colleagues and other health professionals

Experience and /or the capacity evidenced by knowledge and skills to conduct facilitation of pregnancy family conferencing or other family-based meetings/ interventions attended by a range of professionals and families

High level skills and clinical experience working with families where there are risk of significant harm concerns and understanding of the interrelated dynamics and effects of domestic and family violence, sexual assault, physical abuse and neglect on victims and their children
