Through our highly skilled team of naval architects, engineers and maritime specialists, we support major Australian naval programs and emerging maritime technologies across ship design, engineering, systems integration, acquisition and sustainment. Leveraging nearly a century of naval design excellence and access to Gibbs & Cox's global network of specialists, we help deliver complex maritime projects that strengthen Australia's sovereign shipbuilding, naval design and maritime capability.
The Opportunity
This role is an opportunity to contribute to the Gibbs & Cox (GCA) team by delivering outcomes that matter. The Growth Manager is responsible for identifying, shaping and securing new business across the Australian maritime sector. Leveraging an existing professional network and substantial engineering, project management, or Defence delivery experience, the role leads customer engagement, opportunity management, and proposal development. The ideal candidate is also capable of and interested in taking on future project delivery leadership roles.
In this role, you will:
- Identify, qualify and pursue new business opportunities aligned with GCA capabilities and objectives
- Develop and maintain strong relationships across Defence, Government and industry
- Lead client engagement and opportunity shaping activities, including supporting management colleagues in customer and partner engagement activities
- Prepare high quality proposals, white papers, and tender responses
- Manage internal new business approval processesSupport strategic partnerships and teaming arrangements
About You
We are looking for someone who brings judgement, curiosity and a collaborative approach to work that matters.
Essential for this role:
- Demonstrated success contributing to project delivery though engineering, program management or Defence capability development related roles
- Ability to develop high quality written proposals
- Established professional network in the Australian naval and/or marine sector
- Demonstrated leadership capability, and ability to influence senior stakeholders
- Strong commercial judgement and pragmatic decision-making
- Australian Citizen
- Advantageous, but not essential: Experience in assurance, governance, systems engineering, or independent review functions
Please note, this position is offered as an initial 12-month fixed-term position. This role requires the successful applicant to be an Australian citizen and hold, or be eligible to obtain, NV1 security clearance.
