Job description

Foxhound Talent is working with one of Australia's most established builders to find a Project Coordinator for their Brisbane team.

This role has been created to develop someone. The team wants to bring on a coordinator who can take on the day-to-day project coordination and, with the right support, grow into a Contract Administrator. Formal qualifications aren't essential.

The work

This is a commercial building role, not civil or heavy infrastructure. The team delivers a varied mix of vertical construction projects, and their current and upcoming work includes:

Healthcare: new building works and refurbishments within operating hospitals, where staging, infection control and working around clinical services are part of everyday delivery

Government funded residential: multi-storey apartment buildings for social and affordable housing

Technical facilities: purpose-built buildings housing critical systems for transport operators, with demanding services, compliance and handover requirements

Aviation: building works within an operational airport environment

Refurbishment and remedial works: upgrading and rectifying existing buildings, where every area opened up can bring something new

Each type of project brings its own challenges, from live environments and critical services to managing multiple stakeholders. That variety means you'll build a broad foundation early in your career rather than learning one type of job.

The support you'll get

This isn't a role where you're left to figure it out alone. You'll be:

Working day to day alongside experienced project managers and contract administrators who will actively mentor you

Taught the commercial side of construction step by step, starting with the basics and building up as your confidence grows

Given increasing responsibility as you show you're ready, with a clear path toward running your own commercial packages

Part of a settled, experienced team that takes the time to develop people and has promoted from within before

What you'll be doing

To start, you'll support the project team with:

Document control, including drawings, RFIs, transmittals and correspondence

Subcontractor records, including insurances, SWMS, inductions and site access

Minutes in project and subcontractor meetings, and chasing actions through to close out

Quality processes, including ITPs, defect tracking and handover documentation

Monthly progress claims and client reporting

As you develop, you'll be mentored through:

Preparing and tracking variations

Understanding head contracts and subcontracts

How extension of time, delay and latent condition claims are built and substantiated

Procurement, subcontractor packages and cost tracking

Who they're looking for

This role would suit:

Someone in site administration or document control ready to take the next step

A tradesperson or apprentice who wants to move off the tools and into the commercial side

A construction management, QS or engineering student or recent graduate

Someone early in their construction career who wants a clear direction

You'll need to be organised, confident dealing with site teams, subcontractors and clients, and genuinely interested in how projects are run commercially. Experience with Aconex, Procore or similar is a bonus.

Why this role

A real pathway: mentored development into a Contract Administrator role, not a dead-end admin position

Variety: exposure to healthcare, residential, technical and aviation building projects early in your career

Stability: a long-standing builder with a strong and varied pipeline

Support: experienced people around you who want to see you succeed
