We’re excited to be on the hunt for a Sync & Licensing Executive to join our team and help create opportunities for SMP’s exceptional roster of songwriters and catalogue. This is a highly collaborative role combining creative pitching, music licensing, commercial negotiation and relationship management, working across advertising, TV, film, gaming, stage and merchandise.
What you’ll do:
Manage sync licensing, creative pitching and commercial negotiations across a range of media opportunities
Identify and pitch SMP repertoire in response to creative briefs, using strong creative instincts and an in-depth knowledge of contemporary music
Promote and market the SMP songwriter roster and catalogue to clients and international affiliate offices
Build and maintain strong relationships with music supervisors, producers, networks, studios, agencies and other key industry decision-makers
Develop a deep understanding of SMP’s songwriters, repertoire and catalogue to identify creative and commercial opportunities.
Maintain & manage client contacts and databases, ensuring information is accurate and up to date
Oversee music ingestion and catalogue maintenance within internal pitching systems
Contribute to the broader objectives, creative initiatives and commercial activities of the Licensing & Sync team
Manage multiple briefs and priorities while delivering accurate, high-quality work to tight deadlines
What you’ll bring:
Ideally 1–2 years’ experience in music licensing, sync or a related area of the music industry
A sound understanding of commercial music licensing, relevant agreements, industry standards and best practice
Strong negotiation skills and the confidence to quote and price the SMP catalogue
Passion for music and strong knowledge of contemporary music, with an enthusiasm for developing a deep knowledge of SMP’s songwriters, roster and catalogue.
Strong creative instincts and the ability to identify and pitch repertoire for sync opportunities.
A commercial mindset, with an understanding of revenue targets and the ability to contribute to category budgets
Strong organisational and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, stakeholder expectations and tight deadlines
Ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team
