Senior Manager - Legal and Policy
As Senior Manager - Legal and Policy, you will play a vital role in leading many of Arca's legal and policy initiatives. You'll work closely with our leadership team to provide expert advice, develop submissions, and engage with Members, regulators, and Government stakeholders. You will also provide legal and policy advice to the team that administers the Principles of Reciprocity and Data Exchange (PRDE) – the industry rules governing the exchange of credit reporting information. This is a dynamic role that combines legal analysis, policy development, and strategic engagement alongside our collaborative, purpose-driven team.
Key responsibilities
- Lead policy initiatives relating to credit reporting and data use, such as Arca's work on hardship reporting.
- Contribute to other Arca policy initiatives, such as modernisation of Australia's credit reporting system improving data quality and corrections and responses to domestic abuse.
- Conduct legal and policy research, analyse complex issues, and develop practical solutions.
- Provide legal and technical policy advice in response to issues raised by Arca Members and PRDE signatories.
- Draft submissions to Government and key stakeholders, incorporating Member feedback and aligning with Arca's strategic objectives.
- Engage with Members and stakeholders through meetings, workshops, and consultations.
About you
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience of consumer credit and credit reporting law and policy
- A minimum of 3 years' experience in legal, policy or regulatory roles.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain complex concepts.
- Self-motivated and comfortable working in a small, agile organisation.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and interpersonal skills.
- A willingness to learn and grow.
