Lead the State. Build the Market. Realise Growth.
Location: Perth, WA
Reports to: Chief Operating Officer
At Headland Technology, we don't just supply and support machinery. We partner with manufacturers to improve productivity, capability and long-term performance through leading technology, service and lifecycle support.
We're looking for an exceptional State Manager to lead our business across Western Australia - bringing Sales, Service and Spare Parts together as one integrated state operation.
This is a senior leadership opportunity for someone who wants to build a business, not simply manage one. You'll take ownership of the state result, shape the growth agenda and turn market opportunity into measurable commercial outcomes.
You’ll have the mandate to strengthen the core business while developing new market opportunities - backed by strong technology brands, capable teams and a business that wants to grow.
The Opportunity
As State Manager, you’ll effectively run the state business. You’ll own the P&L, lead the team and be accountable for growth, customer experience, people, commercial performance and operational execution across Sales, Service and Spare Parts.
The opportunity is broader than maintaining an established operation. We want someone who can see where the next stage of growth will come from, build the plan, align the right people and resources, and then make it happen.
You’ll have genuine scope to influence the direction of the business, including:
Full P&L ownership of an important growth business unit
Develop and deliver the state growth strategy, turning opportunities into reality
Building a high-performance culture
Delivering critical, strategic customer outcomes across the state
Driving the future direction of our end-to-end offering.
You’ll be responsible for ensuring our customers get the right part, at the right time, with the right level of support—while also driving profitability, efficiency, market growth and continuous improvement across the business.
What You’ll Be Doing
Own the Business - You’ll take full ownership of the state P&L, budget and forecast, with clear accountability for revenue, margin, costs and profitability.
Lead through People - You’ll develop and inspire a team that is known for its responsiveness, expertise and customer focus. Creating an environment where people genuinely enjoy coming to work.
Deliver Outstanding Customer Experience – You’ll work across all functions so customers experience one joined-up engagement from the initial conversation through to ongoing lifecycle support.
Build and Realise Growth - You’ll turn market insight into action: growing established channels and enabling new opportunities. Just as importantly, you’ll be accountable for converting those opportunities into commercial results.
Lift the Business - You’ll challenge complexity, improve how the operation works and make better use of systems, data and technology to support growth without simply adding cost or headcount.
Who We're Looking For
We’re looking for a genuine business builder.
You’ll be comfortable operating at executive level, but equally comfortable getting close to customers, the market and the commercial detail. You can move from strategy to execution, and you measure success by realised growth and stronger business performance - not simply by having a plan.
You’ll likely bring experience from industrial machinery, manufacturing technology, engineering, automation, technical services or a related B2B environment.
Most importantly, you’ll be the type of person who has:
- Senior leadership experience
- Proven track record of building and growing a business
- Ability to build high-performing teams and lead change
- Strong financial acumen and decision-making confidence
- Holds yourself and others accountable – follows through on commitments
- Isn't afraid to challenge the way things have always been done
- Gets energy from achieving results rather than talking about them
What Success Looks Like
Within your first 12 months, you will have:
Translated a clear growth strategy into current and future results
Realised deeper lifecycle value in partnership with our customers
Developed a high-performing, accountable and engaged team
Proactively driven meaningful collaboration across the organisation
Strengthened strategic relationships with key customers and OEM partners
Enhanced customer experience metrics
Delivered strategic improvement initiatives
Created a more scalable and efficient operation for future growth
