HYPAR is growing! Through our new Level-Up program we aim to help young people who have an NDIS plan transition into the adult world while feeling supported and informed. We’re looking for Mentors who not only have the skills for the role but will provide a positive, safe space for our young people as we promote their growth and connection to the community.

The HYPAR Group is a collective of specialist organisations supporting young people, people with disability, and people seeking personal wellbeing and independence.

We offer a range of tailored supports, including Mentoring, Supported Independent Living (SIL), Disability Support, Residential Care, Outdoor Mentorship and Adventure Activities to participants across South-East Queensland region.

About the Opportunity

HYPAR Residential Care is a values driven provider focused on building positive and supportive relationships with young people in the care of the Department of Families, Seniors, Disability Services and Child Safety.

We're seeking youth workers in the Sunshine Coast region that will mentor and support our young people with high to complex needs and behaviours to have a stable, consistent and predictable home environment which is both therapeutic and safe.

A day in the role of our Mentors includes, but is not limited to:

Create meaningful change by empowering, informing and advocating for our participants

Promoting healthy lifestyles and engaging in healthy activities with young people.

Assisting our young people to access community and health care services

Role modelling a safe, clean and supported home environment.

Complete daily case notes, administration tasks and incident reports

Work collaboratively within the house team to motivate and inspire our young people achieve their personal goals

About You

The ideal candidate for this position will have:

The desire to make a lasting difference in the lives of our participants

Emotional intelligence, initiative and flexibility to build strong relationships with our young people

The ability to maintain professionalism in high-pressure situations

Excellent written and verbal communication skills and proficiency with smart phones/computers

The ability to work a variety of shifts across a 24/7 roster

Solid understanding of the child protection system and a therapeutic background (highly regarded)

  • Open QLD Drivers Licence
  • A working android or apple smartphone
