Excavator Operator
JR Richards & Sons is seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Excavator Operator to join our ROS Treatment Plant team in Rutherford.
Reporting directly to the Process Engineer, this is an exciting opportunity for an experienced operator to join a growing resource recovery operation. You'll work with a variety of plant and equipment while playing a key role in supporting environmental outcomes and the day‑to‑day success of the treatment plant.
Operating within our Mud Treatment Plant, you'll be responsible for the safe and efficient processing of waste materials while helping to maintain a high‑performing and well‑presented facility.

You'll work with a variety of plant and equipment while playing a key role in supporting environmental outcomes and the day‑to‑day success of the treatment plant.
Operating within our Mud Treatment Plant, you'll be responsible for the safe and efficient processing of waste materials while helping to maintain a high‑performing and well‑presented facility.
Key Responsibilities
Operate a 14‑tonne excavator, forklift, pumps and other plant equipment safely and efficiently
Process waste through the Mud Treatment Plant in accordance with operational requirements
Manage stockpiles and assist with loading and unloading trucks
Monitor plant performance and report operational issues
Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance on equipment
Assist with minor repairs and general equipment upkeep
Maintain a clean, organised and safe work environment
Work closely with plant operators, administration staff and management to support site operations
Provide professional customer service to clients and visitors attending the facility
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the treatment plant
About You
To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:
Minimum 3 years' experience operating excavators
Current Excavator VOC (RTO Accredited)
Current LF Forklift Licence
Experience operating and maintaining pumps and related equipment
Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to identify maintenance issues
Commitment to workplace health, safety and environmental standards
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Professional and customer‑focused approach
Ability to work independently and take initiative
Reliable, motivated and accountable work ethic
