Job description

Location: Western Sydney

Project: Major Infrastructure Project - Minimum 8 - week project

We are currently seeking reliable and hardworking Trades Assistants to join our client’s team on a major infrastructure project in Western Sydney.

You will work alongside experienced Mechanical Fitters and the wider project team, assisting with the installation, assembly and commissioning of cargo conveyor systems and associated equipment. You will require both a Construction White card and LF Forklift license for this role.

The Client

An established engineering and manufacturing business based in Sydney’s south-west. The business delivers practical engineering, fabrication and manufacturing solutions across industrial and commercial applications. With a hands-on workshop environment and an experienced team, it undertakes a range of projects requiring quality workmanship, technical capability and attention to detail. The company offers a stable working environment for skilled tradespeople and those looking to build their experience within a professional engineering operation.

About the Role

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting Mechanical Fitters with conveyor installation and assembly
  • Supporting the installation of mechanical equipment and components
  • Using hand and power tools under direction
  • Moving, positioning and handling materials and equipmentAssisting with conveyor frames, rollers, guards and associated components
  • General site labouring and housekeeping
  • Loading and unloading materials
  • Following drawings, instructions and site procedures
  • Maintaining a clean and safe work area
  • Working as part of a team to meet project deadlines

About You

To be successful, you will have:

  • Must have Construction White Card
  • Must have a valid LF Forklift License
  • Previous Trades Assistant, construction or industrial experience highly regarded
  • Experience using basic hand and power tools
  • Good physical fitness and ability to perform manual work
  • Strong work ethic and reliable attendance
  • Ability to follow instructions and work safely
  • Ability to work effectively alongside qualified tradespeople
  • Relevant tickets such as EWP or working at heights highly regarded
  • Mechanical or conveyor experience highly regarded
