Youth Justice and Victim Support – South Brisbane QLD
As an Enquiries and Response Officer in the Information and Referral Team, your role is to provide clear, accurate, and relevant information to victims of crime, their families, and stakeholders. This includes assisting with financial assistance applications and connecting victims to support services. Interactions are primarily conducted over the phone but may also occur in writing or in person. Your key responsibility is to guide victims through the process, ensuring they receive the support and information they need.
Key responsibilities:
Demonstrate cultural capability and/or a commitment to developing cultural capability to ensure an inclusive culture that aligns with the Human Rights Act 2019 and supports departmental programs and community partnerships aimed at preserving cultural connections for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
Maintain a victim-centric approach while working within the parameters of the role and the larger organisation.
Talk to victims of crime (including all forms of domestic and family violence), to help in the recovery of their injuries, primarily on the phone but at times in person, to:
provide accurate, clear and appropriate information to victims of crime, their families and other stakeholders, including information about how to apply for financial assistance under the Victims of Crime Assistance Act 2009.
enable appropriate and effective referrals to other stakeholders to enhance victim support.
explain the Charter of Victims'Rights and the complaint process.
Navigate electronic case management systems to accurately record interactions with clients and receive and action referrals.
Contribute and collaborate to improve team performance by sharing and implementing innovative ideas.
Manage own self-care when working with people who have experienced trauma.
