Delivery Lead | 6 Month Contract | Sydney CBD | Hybrid
Sydney CBD | 2 days in office | Initial 6 month contract | ASAP start
We're working with an established Sydney software company looking for an experienced Delivery Lead to take ownership of software delivery across multiple engineering squads.
This is broader than a traditional Scrum Master role. You'll own delivery end to end, combining delivery leadership, release management, agile facilitation and stakeholder management across a product engineering environment.
The business has approximately 25 developers across four to five squads, working in two-week sprints within a SAFe environment.
The role
You'll be responsible for keeping software initiatives moving from planning through to release, while giving engineering teams the structure and space they need to deliver.
You will:
- Own delivery across multiple software initiatives, including scope, schedule, budget, risks and dependencies
- Facilitate Scrum and scaled agile ceremonies across multiple squads
- Coach engineering teams and Product Owners around backlog management and prioritisation
- Coordinate releases across development, test and production environments
- Track and report milestones, risks, dependencies and financials to senior leadership
- Work closely with Product on roadmap alignment and release planning
- Coordinate vendors, Support, Professional Services and customers around delivery expectations
- Maintain appropriate delivery governance and challenge gaps when required
- Lead retrospectives and continuously improve delivery processes
The environment
- Approximately 25 software engineers
- 4-5 engineering squads
- Two-week sprints
- SAFe and Scrum
- AWS, Azure and on-premise infrastructure
- Sydney CBD
- Hybrid working - 2 days week
- Fast-moving environment where priorities can change
What we're looking for
You'll ideally have:
- Strong experience leading software or technology delivery in Agile and hybrid environments
- Experience managing delivery across multiple engineering squads
- Strong Scrum facilitation skills and the ability to run ceremonies yourself
- Proven ability to influence technical teams and senior stakeholders without direct authority
- Experience managing project budgets, forecasts, risks and reporting
- Strong Excel and reporting capability
- Scrum Master and/or SAFe certification
- A good enough technical understanding to work credibly with software engineers
Experience with cloud migrations, AWS/Azure environments or a previous software development background would be highly regarded.
PMBOK or PRINCE2 certification would also be beneficial.
Why consider it?
- Own the delivery function rather than simply facilitating stand-ups
- Work closely with Product, Engineering and senior leadership
- Small enough environment for your impact to be visible quickly
- Initial six-month contract with potential to extend
- ASAP start
