We’re looking for a Community Education Officer to coordinate and deliver Women's Health and Equality Queensland’s (WHEQ) Body Language program, supporting young women and gender-diverse people across Queensland.
About the role
Working within WHEQ’s Health & Equality team, the Community Education Officer coordinates, delivers and evaluates our Body Language program for young women and gender-diverse people aged 12 to 24.
You’ll deliver engaging education and training on topics including women’s health, mental health and wellbeing, body image, consent and respectful relationships, youth health, gender equity and the primary prevention of violence.
You’ll also build relationships with schools, youth services, community organisations and other partners to increase the reach and impact of the program.
Key responsibilities
You will:
coordinate and deliver Body Language workshops, education and training
facilitate engaging sessions for young people, community members and other stakeholders
build relationships with schools, youth services, community organisations and other partners
develop engaging, evidence-informed education and training resources
support train-the-trainer and other capacity-building activities
contribute to program planning, evaluation and continuous improvement
use participant feedback and emerging evidence to strengthen program delivery
contribute to program reporting, KPIs and contractual requirements.
About you
You are someone who can connect with diverse audiences, create engaging learning experiences and build strong relationships with communities and partner organisations.
What you will bring to the role:
a Bachelor or postgraduate qualification relevant to the role (highly regarded)
knowledge or experience in community development and engagement, public health, health promotion, women’s health, or education and training
experience delivering education, training or workshops to diverse audiences
strong facilitation, presentation and communication skills
an ability to develop engaging education resources and training materials
knowledge of women’s and youth health issues, including mental health and wellbeing, body image, consent and relationships
an understanding of socially and culturally inclusive practice and the experiences of LGBTQIA+ communities, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities, and other groups experiencing disadvantage
the ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
You’ll also need a current Working with Children Check (Blue Card) or be willing to obtain this, as well as a valid Queensland Driver’s Licence.
Some out-of-hours work and travel may be required.
