Murray Cod Australia is seeking experienced and motivated Leading Hands to support our production operations within a fast-paced FMCG food processing environment.

This is a hands-on leadership role suited to someone who understands that strong production outcomes are driven by good process, quality control, clear communication, safety and effective team leadership.

You will work closely with Production, Quality and Management teams to ensure daily production targets are achieved safely, efficiently and in accordance with food safety and quality standards.

The Role

As a Leading Hand, you will help coordinate day-to-day production activities while providing practical, hands-on leadership to employees on shift.

Key responsibilities include:

• Supporting the daily production plan and achievement of production targets.
• Providing hands-on leadership, direction and support to production employees.
• Ensuring employees follow approved production processes, SOPs and work instructions.
• Monitoring product quality and escalating food safety or quality concerns promptly.
• Working closely with Production, Quality and Management to maintain operational standards.
• Supporting line setup, workflow, labour allocation and production changeovers.
• Identifying production bottlenecks and assisting with practical solutions.
• Monitoring productivity, waste, downtime and general production performance.
• Ensuring production, quality and operational records are completed accurately.
• Supporting employee training, onboarding and competency development.
• Reinforcing GMP, hygiene, housekeeping and food safety requirements.
• Promoting a strong safety culture and ensuring WHS procedures are followed.
• Supporting stock and product movements within the processing environment.
• Providing clear shift handovers and communicating outstanding issues to the next shift or management.

About You

We are looking for individuals with experience in production, food manufacturing, FMCG, processing, warehousing or another high-volume operational environment.

You will ideally have:

• Previous experience as a Leading Hand, Team Leader, Production Supervisor or experienced production operator.
• A strong understanding of production processes and the importance of following established procedures.
• Experience working in a quality-controlled or food manufacturing environment.
• A practical understanding of GMP, food safety and quality requirements.
• The ability to lead employees while remaining hands-on within the operation.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• The ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing production priorities.
• A strong focus on productivity, quality, safety and continuous improvement.
• Good attention to detail and confidence completing production documentation.
• A reliable, proactive and team-focused approach to work.
• A Light Rigid (LR) Driver Licence is desirable but not essential.
• Experience within seafood, meat processing, food manufacturing, cold storage or FMCG production will be highly regarded.
