Wilmar Sugar Australia is part of Wilmar International, a leading global agribusiness with around 100,000 employees working across more than 30 countries and regions.

\n

Across Australia and New Zealand, we operate two major business units, Sugar & Renewables and Sweeteners, employing 2,400+ people during peak/ seasonal operations with corporate offices in Melbourne, Brisbane, Townsville and Auckland.

\n

As Australia's largest raw sugar manufacturer and a top 10 global producer, Wilmar Sugar & Renewables runs eight sugar mills across North Queensland. \n

About the role

\n

As the Engineering Superintendent - EIC at Kalamia Mill, you'll lead the Electrical, Instrumentation & Control maintenance function across the site, ensuring operations run safely, reliably, and efficiently. You'll be right across planned and corrective maintenance, shutdowns at the end of crush, and day-to-day support during the crushing season to keep both facilities performing at their best.

\n

You'll work closely with reliability teams, schedulers, and operations to shape the maintenance schedule and manage the budget, balancing priorities to reduce downtime and improve plant reliability. There's also involvement in longer-term asset and capital planning, helping set both sites up for future performance.

\n

This is a hands‑on leadership role where you'll develop your team, manage safety, build strong relationships across the site, and use systems like SAP to keep maintenance work flowing smoothly and effectively.

\n

The role brings real variety across EIC systems, from operational support through to shutdowns and strategic planning

\n

It's a great opportunity to step into a key leadership role within a new and developing team - helping shape culture, build capability, and make a visible impact across Kalamia Mill and the broader Burdekin region.

\n

Role Responsibilities:

Lead and manage the Electrical, Instrumentation & Control (EIC) maintenance team to ensure safe and reliable mill operations

\n

Plan, schedule, and coordinate maintenance activities, including shutdowns and day-to-day operational support during crush

\n

Manage the EIC maintenance budget and support longer "term" asset and capital planning

\n

Work closely with operations, reliability, and scheduling teams to prioritise work and minimise downtime

\n

Lead, coach, and develop your team while driving strong safety, performance, and continuous improvement outcomes

\n

About You

\n

Tertiary qualifications in Engineering (Electrical, Instrumentation, or related discipline) or equivalent hands on industry experience

\n

Minimum 5 years' experience in a senior engineering or trade-based role within a heavy industrial or continuous processing environment

\n

Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead teams and build effective working relationships across site

\n

Strong understanding of reliability and maintenance practices, including risk-based maintenance and asset lifecycle management

\n

Experience working with engineering standards, Australian Standards, and relevant Codes of Practice

\n

Proven ability to manage maintenance systems and work management processes (ideally SAP)

\n

Previous experience in the sugar or similar process manufacturing industry

\n

Proficiency in SAP for maintenance planning, scheduling, and reporting

\n

Exposure to capital project delivery and engineering project management
