Medical Receptionist Specialist Surgical Practice Westmead
Medical Receptionist Specialist Surgical Practice Westmead
Medical Receptionist – Specialist Surgical Practice
Westmead | 3 Days Per Week | 9am-5pm | $35–$38/hr + Super | Onsite Parking
Looking for a three-day medical reception role where your experience will genuinely be valued?
If you're an experienced Medical Receptionist or Medical Secretary who enjoys building relationships with patients, working closely with a specialist and taking ownership of the details that keep a consulting day running smoothly, this could be a wonderful fit.
You'll be joining an established specialist surgeon's private practice in Westmead, working three days each week — Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, 9am–5pm.
This is a role for someone who knows medical reception, understands the importance of getting the details right and enjoys being a trusted point of contact for both the doctor and their patients.
Specialist or surgical experience would be highly regarded, but it isn't essential. If you have strong medical reception experience from general practice or another healthcare setting, we'd equally love to hear from you.
Why you'll enjoy this role
Permanent part-time 3 days each week – Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, 9am–5pm
$35–$38 per hour + super – depending on experience
Onsite parking included – an important bonus in Westmead
Work closely with one specialist surgeon – become a trusted and valued part of their private practice
Build genuine patient relationships – be a familiar and reassuring point of contact throughout their care
Take ownership of your role – manage the day-to-day reception and administration that keeps the practice running smoothly
Use the medical experience you've already built – while broadening your exposure to specialist surgical practice
Enjoy variety without being lost in a large team – appointments, patients, billing, correspondence and the coordination of a busy consulting day
What will your day look like?
Working closely with the surgeon, you'll have responsibility for creating a smooth, organised and welcoming experience for patients throughout their contact with the practice.
Your day will include:
Welcoming patients and managing the flow of the consulting day
Answering calls and assisting with patient enquiries
Coordinating appointments and managing the specialist's diary
Managing patient billing and accounts
Typing medical letters and correspondence
Maintaining accurate patient information and records
Keeping on top of the details needed for upcoming clinics
Liaising closely with the surgeon throughout the consulting day
Providing general medical reception and administrative support
The practice uses Clinic to Cloud. Previous experience would be welcomed, although it isn't essential if you're confident learning new systems.
The patient experience matters
For someone seeing a specialist or preparing for surgery, having a Medical Secretary who is warm, organised and reassuring can make an enormous difference.
We're looking for someone who doesn't see medical reception as simply answering phones and booking appointments.
You notice the details. You follow things through. You remember that there is a patient behind every appointment, account and piece of correspondence.
And you take pride in being someone both the doctor and their patients can rely on.
Who would thrive in this role?
We'd particularly love to hear from someone who already has medical reception or medical secretarial experience and is looking for a quality part-time role where that experience will be appreciated.
You may already work in specialist or surgical practice, or you may come from general practice or another healthcare environment.
You'll ideally bring:
Previous medical reception or healthcare administration experience
Strong patient communication and customer service skills
Excellent organisation and attention to detail
Confidence managing appointments, billing and medical administration
A warm, polished and professional manner
The ability to manage competing priorities calmly
Strong written communication and accurate typing
Initiative, reliability and good follow-through
An understanding of confidentiality and professionalism in healthcare
A genuine desire to become a trusted part of the practice
Specialist or surgical experience is an advantage, but strong medical reception experience and the right approach are equally important.
Could this be the right fit for you?
If you're an experienced Medical Receptionist or Secretary looking for three days per week and the opportunity to work closely with a specialist surgeon, we'd genuinely love to hear from you.
Bring the medical reception experience you've already developed and become an important part of providing patients with a warm, professional and well-organised experience throughout their care.
