We are looking for a capable resource to coordinate tasks, ranging from simple activities to more complex plans. This role will provide on-site/on-call assistance to end users within the organization’s desktop computing environment in a timely and accurate manner to ensure optimal service delivery.
About the Role
Our customer is currently undertaking a major infrastructure transformation program involving the implementation of a new VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) environment and the migration of existing VMware ESXi clusters onto the VCF platform.
We are seeking an experienced Infrastructure VCF Administrator to join the project team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the administration, configuration, migration, lifecycle management and ongoing operational support of the VMware environment.
This role requires a hands‑on infrastructure professional with strong experience across VMware Cloud Foundation, SDDC Manager, vSphere, ESXi and vCenter, together with practical experience supporting enterprise-scale virtualisation environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer and support the customer’s VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) environment.
- Manage and maintain SDDC Manager, including platform health, configuration and operational activities.
- Administer VMware vSphere, ESXi and vCenter Server environments.
- Support the migration of existing VMware ESXi clusters into the new VCF platform.
- Assist with the design, build, configuration and operational readiness of VCF infrastructure.
- Manage VMware workload domains, clusters, hosts, virtual machines and associated infrastructure components.
- Perform VMware lifecycle management activities including:
- Upgrades
- Patching
- Version upgrades
- Configuration changes
- Infrastructure maintenance
- Component remediation
- Troubleshoot complex VMware infrastructure issues across compute, virtualisation, storage and networking layers.
- Monitor VMware platform health, capacity, availability and performance.
- Perform ESXi host and vCenter administration, including cluster configuration and optimisation.
- Support VMware HA, DRS, vMotion and related virtualisation technologies.
- Coordinate and execute infrastructure migration and change activities in accordance with established change-management processes.
- Work closely with network, storage, security, backup and application teams to resolve infrastructure dependencies and technical issues.
- Conduct health checks and proactively identify potential capacity, performance or availability issues.
- Support incident, problem and change management activities for the VMware environment.
- Maintain technical documentation, configuration records, operational procedures and migration documentation.
- Participate in infrastructure upgrades, maintenance windows and planned implementation activities.
- Support enterprise infrastructure operations and ensure platform stability and availability.
- Assist with disaster recovery, backup and business continuity activities where required.
- Identify opportunities for automation and operational improvement within the VMware environment.
- 7+ years of experience in VMware/virtualisation and enterprise infrastructure administration.
- Strong hands‑on experience with VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF).
- Strong practical experience with SDDC Manager.
- Extensive experience administering:
- VMware vSphere
- VMware ESXi
- VMware vCenter Server
- Experience managing enterprise VMware clusters and virtualisation platforms.
- Proven experience with VMware lifecycle management, upgrades, patching and migrations.
- Hands‑on experience migrating or transitioning existing VMware environments into VCF.
- Strong knowledge of:
- VMware HA
- DRS
- vMotion
- Cluster management
- Resource management
- VM administration
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills across VMware infrastructure.
- Experience working within large-scale enterprise infrastructure environments.
- Good understanding of infrastructure change, incident and problem management processes.
- Experience working collaboratively with network, storage, security and application infrastructure teams.
- Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills.

- VMware vSAN
- VMware NSX / NSX-T
- VMware Distributed Switches
- Storage policies and capacity management
- VMware Aria Operations / Aria Automation / Aria Logs
- VMware HCX
- VMware Site Recovery Manager (SRM)
- PowerCLI / PowerShell scripting
- Automation and infrastructure-as-code tools such as Ansible or Terraform
- Enterprise backup technologies such as Veeam, Rubrik or Commvault
- Cisco networking and enterprise data-centre technologies
- Disaster recovery and business continuity environments
- ITIL-based operational processes
- VMware certifications such as VCP or related VMware credentials
Project / Migration Experience
The successful candidate should ideally have experience working on VMware transformation or migration projects, particularly:
- Greenfield VCF implementations
- Existing VMware-to-VCF migrations
- ESXi cluster migrations
- vCenter migrations
- VMware platform upgrades
- Infrastructure consolidation
- Enterprise virtualisation transformation programs

- ITIL certification or experience working within ITIL‑aligned environments is advantageous.
