Preconstruction, Estimating & Business Development Professional

This is a unique and diverse role offering exposure across business development and estimating functions primarily in the Structural Steel and Construction space. The successful candidate will play a critical role in expanding our client base, identifying and pursuing new project opportunities, preparing competitive tenders and supporting the continued growth of our businesses. You will be responsible for developing strong relationships with clients, consultants, local authorities and key stakeholders while working collaboratively with our operational teams to secure profitable projects across the Group.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and pursue new business opportunities across the infrastructure, industrial, Defence and commercial construction sectors.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective clients.
• Represent the Group at industry events, networking functions and client meetings.
• Monitor market trends and identify strategic growth opportunities.
• Contribute to business development strategies and client engagement plans.
• Assist with the preparation of capability statements, proposals and client presentations.
• Prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates and tender submissions.
• Review drawings, specifications and project documentation.
• Engage with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain pricing and scope information.
• Conduct risk assessments and identify value-engineering opportunities.

About you

• Experience in business development, estimating, tendering, project management or a combination of these disciplines within the construction, engineering or infrastructure sectors.
• Strong commercial acumen and the ability to identify and secure new opportunities.
• Proven capability in preparing estimates, tenders and project budgets.
• Excellent stakeholder management and relationship-building skills.
• Strong communication, negotiation and presentation abilities.
• A sound understanding of construction methodologies and contract fundamentals.
• High levels of initiative, accountability and professionalism.
• A collaborative approach aligned with our values and culture.
