You will oversee skilled trades teams and apprentices, manage site priorities and resources, and ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on schedule and to the highest standards of quality.

The Site Fabrication Manager will play a key role in maintaining strong client relationships, driving operational performance and ensuring successful project delivery from planning through to completion.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide clear leadership, direction and support to supervisors, trades personnel, apprentices and subcontractors.
  • Manage site resources, labour, materials, equipment and priorities to achieve project schedules and operational requirements.
  • Liaise closely with clients, project managers, site managers and internal stakeholders to understand requirements, priorities, program and expectations.
  • Monitor project progress, productivity and performance, identifying and addressing issues that may impact delivery, cost, quality or schedule.
  • Ensure all work is completed in accordance with company policies, client requirements, engineering specifications and legislative WHS obligations.
  • Oversee quality control and inspections, ensuring fabrication and mechanical works comply with drawings, specifications and required standards.
  • Promote and maintain a strong safety culture, ensuring all personnel understand and comply with relevant WHS requirements and site procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records relating to labour, materials, productivity, project progress, quality and safety.
  • Identify opportunities to improve work practices, productivity, efficiency and cost effectiveness, and implement practical solutions.
  • Assist with project planning, estimating, quoting, tender preparation and resource forecasting as required.
  • Monitor labour and material requirements and work with management to ensure appropriate resources are available to meet project demands.
  • Manage and resolve day-to-day operational and technical issues, escalating matters where appropriate.
  • Build and maintain positive, professional relationships with clients, subcontractors, suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Support the development, mentoring and performance of trades personnel and emerging leaders within the team.
  • Ensure site activities are completed in accordance with agreed programs, budgets and quality expectations.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the Fabrication and Mechanical Services operation.

About You

We are looking for an experienced trade professional with strong leadership and site management capabilities, together with a proven ability to manage fabrication and minor projects in a busy client-focused environment.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A current Australian-recognised trade qualification or equivalent certification in fabrication, mechanical engineering or a related discipline.
  • 5+ years' relevant industry experience, with significant experience in fabrication and/or mechanical services.
  • Demonstrated experience in a supervisory, site management or fabrication management capacity.
  • Proven ability to lead and coordinate trades teams, apprentices, subcontractors and other site personnel.
  • Strong understanding of fabrication processes, site operations and project delivery requirements.
  • Sound knowledge of Australian WHS legislation, safety standards and relevant industry requirements.
  • The ability to read, interpret and work from engineering drawings, technical specifications, plans and project documentation.
  • Strong organisational and planning skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and changing site requirements.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with clients, trades teams, management and other stakeholders.
  • Sound commercial awareness, including an understanding of labour, materials, productivity and project costs.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision‑making skills, with a practical and solutions‑focused approach.
  • A high level of attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship.
  • The ability to work effectively across multiple client sites and travel as required.
