Role detailsThe Health Information Services at the Mackay Base Hospital is seeking applications for a Senior Clinical Coder to join their team on a temporary basis.For information on how to apply and the mandatory requirements for this role, please refer to the attached Role Description.Your opportunityAs a senior clinical coder, this is an opportunity to work in a team environment to ensure that clinical coding is completed accurately and in a timely manner, to ensure MHHS achieves the correct funding and meets all reporting requirements.About the TeamThe Clinical Coding Service is within the Health Information Service organisational structure. Clinical Coding is a method of abstracting clinical data based on the diagnoses and interventions of each inpatient episode of care. This data is abstracted for the whole clinical record episode of care including Discharge Summary, Progress Notes, Operation Reports, Reference to investigation results including pathology, pharmacy and radiology. Clinical Coding is an essential part of the process in the collection and extraction of patient information for financial, statistical and clinical management purposes.About our Hospital and Health ServiceMackay Hospital and Health Service has 6 hospitals, 2 multi-purpose health services and 4 community health centres that employ more than 3,500 staff.
