The Radiographer performs a Computerised Tomography (CT) scan of the heart, to produce detailed images of the heart and blood vessels, for the Cardiologist to view, diagnose and treat conditions of the heart. You'll be comfortable working independently and confident troubleshooting and problem-solving when required. You'll work four days per week, approximately 8:30am–4:30pm, with a mix of partnered and independent work.
Key responsibilities
- Complete high quality CT medical imaging procedures at the lowest possible radiation dose in line with clinical guidelines
- Manage daily workflow of the scanner
- Maintain thorough and accurate knowledge of CT imaging Medicare item numbers and each item's requirements to ensure compliance
- Ensure all reports and correspondence are completed to a high-quality professional standard
- Be flexible and adaptive in working with the Cardiologists' rosters and service requirements
- Communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders, including colleagues, patients, doctors, and administrative staff
- Cannulate patients for CT procedures and as requested for other services within QCG
- Act as the Radiation Safety Officer, ensuring compliance with QCG's Radiation Safety and Protection Plan
- Document all radiation doses given to patients and ensure procedures are managed within ALAR principles
- Engage in Continued Professional Development (CPD) and actively participate in team and professional development meetings
About you
- Bachelor of Medical Imaging Technology or Bachelor of Science (Medical Imaging Science), or equivalent recognised qualification
- Current Queensland Radiation Use Licence
- Current CPR Certificate
- Demonstrated experience in Cardiac CT, ideally with several years of experience in a cardiac imaging environment
- Strong venepuncture and cannulation skills
- Excellent knowledge of cardiac anatomy, pathology and Cardiac CT scanning techniques
- Demonstrated ability to independently troubleshoot technical and clinical challenges and make sound decisions during scanning
- Confidence working autonomously
- Working rights in Australia
- Highly desirable: Experience performing TAVI planning CT examinations, experience using Philips CT platforms, or experience using GE CT platforms
