The Shellharbour Clinic is seeking a psychologist with established assessment experience to join our team for a 12-month maternity cover position, with the option to continue part-time beyond the initial term. You’ll provide assessments that help clients understand their strengths, challenges and support needs, with the option to combine assessment work with treatment.

About the Role
You will manage assessments from referral review through to clinical interviews, testing, interpretation, report writing and feedback. Your work will inform diagnostic understanding and provide clear, individualised recommendations for clients and their support networks.
Our assessment referrals span the lifespan, from preschool-aged children through to older adults. Depending on your qualifications and expertise, assessment work may include:
Autism assessments, including ADOS-2.
ADHD assessments.
Cognitive and educational assessments.
Functional assessments.
Neuropsychological assessments.
The assessment mix will reflect your qualifications, training and experience, as well as referral needs.
You’ll also have the option to combine assessment work with therapy, including ongoing treatment for assessment clients where appropriate, or a broader clinical caseload aligned with your interests and expertise. The balance between assessment and therapy will be agreed together.
About You
We’re seeking a clinical neuropsychologist or clinical psychologist with established assessment expertise, sound clinical judgement and the ability to work independently.
You will have:
Current registration as a psychologist with AHPRA.
Training and experience in conducting autism and ADHD assessments, including formal ADOS-2 training.
Experience with digital administration of Wechsler assessment tools using iPads and Q-Interactive.
Assessment experience across the lifespan, from preschool-aged children through to older adults.
Experience managing the full assessment process, from referral review and clinical interviews through to interpretation, report writing and feedback.
Strong diagnostic reasoning and knowledge of DSM-5-TR criteria.
Excellent report-writing and communication skills.
Strong organisation and time-management skills.
A commitment to evidence-based practice and ongoing professional development.
A professional, collaborative approach to working with clients and colleagues.
An area of practice endorsement in Clinical Neuropsychology or Clinical Psychology.
Working Arrangements
This is a 12-month maternity cover position, commencing around November–December 2026, with part-time to full-time arrangements available.
A November start may allow for a handover with the current clinician before maternity leave begins. An ongoing part-time assessment workload is available following the maternity cover period, with hours and arrangements to be agreed.
