We are seeking an experienced Payroll Manager to take ownership of our national payroll function and ensure the accurate, compliant and timely delivery of payroll services across the organisation.


This is a hands‑on role suited to a detail‑oriented payroll professional who enjoys working across the full employee lifecycle, managing legislative compliance requirements, driving process improvements and partnering with internal stakeholders to deliver exceptional service.


Experience with Aurion Payroll will be highly regarded.


About the Role


Reporting to a senior people leader, the Payroll Manager is responsible for the end‑to‑end management of payroll operations, ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time while maintaining compliance with all relevant payroll legislation and reporting obligations.


This role works closely with finance, technology and human resources and plays a key role in supporting organisational compliance, reporting and payroll system enhancement initiatives.


Key Responsibilities


Payroll Administration



  • Manage the accurate and timely processing of a national salaried payroll.

  • Maintain employee payroll records and ensure data integrity.

  • Respond to payroll and employment‑related enquiries in a professional and timely manner.

  • Process salary packaging arrangements and related payroll adjustments.

  • Complete payroll reconciliations and support finance‑related payroll activities.


Compliance & Reporting



  • Prepare and lodge payroll‑related statutory returns and compliance reporting, including payroll tax, superannuation, workers' compensation and other legislative obligations.

  • Manage end‑of‑financial‑year payroll activities and compliance payments.

  • Monitor legislative changes affecting payroll, taxation, superannuation, employment conditions and award requirements.

  • Support annual reporting requirements, including workforce and remuneration reporting.

  • Maintain payroll procedures, documentation and records in accordance with organisational and legislative requirements.


Systems & Continuous Improvement



  • Maintain the accuracy of information within the Aurion payroll system.

  • Produce payroll reports and workforce data as required.

  • Identify and implement improvements to payroll processes, systems and controls.

  • Work collaboratively with finance and IT teams to support payroll system enhancements and issue resolution.


Stakeholder Management



  • Build strong working relationships across the organisation.

  • Liaise with external stakeholders including superannuation funds, insurers, workers compensation authorities and government agencies.

  • Provide payroll expertise and support on organisational projects and initiatives as required.


About You


To be successful in this role, you will bring:



  • Demonstrated experience in an end‑to‑end payroll management role.

  • Experience with Aurion Payroll (highly desirable).

  • Strong knowledge of Australian payroll legislation, taxation, superannuation and employment conditions.

  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.

  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Strong analytical, reconciliation and problem‑solving skills.

  • Excellent organisational and time management abilities.

  • The ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively under pressure.

  • Well‑developed written and verbal communication skills.

  • A strong customer service focus and the ability to build trusted relationships.

  • A high level of discretion and professionalism when handling confidential information.
