Job description

One of SEQ's few genuinely vertically integrated waste & recycling operators - and we're hiring a dedicated Business Development & Account Manager

Most waste companies do one thing. They either move the waste or they process it. Jumbo does both.

We collect construction and demolition waste across South East Queensland with our own skip and hook bin fleet, we recover and sort it at our own facilities, and we turn what we can into quality recycled products such as road bases, aggregates, crusher dust and sand that go straight back out to civil and construction projects. Waste in one gate, product out the other. That closed loop is our advantage.

About the role

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you'll be the commercial face of the business across South East Queensland. This is a genuinely greenfield position: you'll build the pipeline, own the customer relationships and shape how we go to market.

Two connected markets:

Local government and civil infrastructure - tendering, panel arrangements, prequalification and contract management with councils and civil contractors.

Private construction - tier 1, 2 and 3 builders, demolition contractors, civil companies, shopfitters and developers who need waste taken off site and materials delivered back in.

The role is B2B. Our residential work comes through digital channels and isn't yours to chase.

What you'll be doing

  • Owning the sales pipeline end to end - prospecting, quoting, negotiating and closing

  • Identifying, preparing and submitting tenders, EOIs and prequalification applications to local government, then managing the contracts you win

  • Selling skip bin, hook bin and construction waste disposal services to commercial and construction customers

  • Selling our recycled product range to civil contractors, councils, developers and landscapers

  • Cross-selling the loop - the builder filling our bins should be buying our road base, and the civil contractor buying our aggregate should be using our bins

  • Securing the inbound concrete and C&D material streams that feed our facilities

  • Building relationships with procurement officers, engineers, estimators, project managers and site supervisors

  • Tracking upcoming projects, competitor activity and pricing, and reporting what it means for us

  • Working with operations so what you sell can actually be delivered - on spec, on time

  • Reporting pipeline, forecast and performance to the Managing Director.

What you'll bring

Essential

  • Demonstrated B2B business development success in waste management, construction materials, quarrying, civil construction or a closely related industry

  • A track record of winning new business and hitting revenue targets - with numbers you can talk to

  • Experience preparing and submitting tenders, EOIs or formal proposals

  • Strong commercial judgement - you can build a quote, understand margin and negotiate without giving the business away

  • Credibility with everyone from a council procurement officer to a site foreman

  • Current Queensland driver licence and the right to work in Australia

Highly regarded

  • An existing network across SEQ councils, civil contractors or tier 1, 2 and 3 builders

  • Familiarity with local government procurement, prequalification schemes and panel arrangements

  • Understanding of recycled material specifications, conformance testing and End of Waste requirements

  • Understanding of how the waste levy and disposal gate fees drive customer behaviour

  • Construction Induction card (White Card)

What's on offer

  • Generous base salary plus superannuation, depending on experience

  • Fully maintained company vehicle, phone and laptop

  • Commission structure discussed with shortlisted candidates

  • A direct line to the decision makers. No layers, no politics, fast answers

  • A business investing hard in plant, fleet and facilities, with a clear growth plan across SEQ

  • A product story that gets stronger every year as regulation tightens and clients are asked to prove where their waste went

  • Direct input into how we build the commercial function properly, from the ground up

Jumbo is an equal opportunity employer and welcomes applications from candidates of all backgrounds. A pre-employment medical, drug and alcohol screen and reference checks form part of our recruitment process.
