Remedial Massage Therapist

Shen Chinese Medicine Centre is seeking an experienced Remedial Massage Therapist to join our established therapeutic clinic in South Melbourne on a full-time basis. This is a therapeutic and remedial massage position, not a general relaxation massage role. The successful applicant will provide treatment to clients presenting with muscular tension, soft-tissue dysfunction, physical discomfort, injuries, mobility limitations and recovery requirements. The role operates within a Chinese medicine treatment environment alongside practitioners providing Traditional Chinese Medicine services.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct detailed client consultations and assess client history, injuries, muscle tension, joint mobility and soft-tissue dysfunction.
• Implement appropriate therapeutic treatment techniques based on client assessments.
• Perform remedial massage, deep tissue massage, Swedish massage, Tuina, trigger point therapy and other therapeutic massage techniques.
• Massage muscles, tendons and ligaments to assist healing, rehabilitation and recovery.
• Apply therapeutic techniques to relieve muscle tension, improve circulation and support physical recovery.
• Provide rehabilitation advice, stretching guidance, posture advice and appropriate lifestyle recommendations.
• Assist clients experiencing muscular strain, sports-related conditions, injuries and recovery-related discomfort.
• Monitor treatment progress and adjust treatment techniques according to client requirements.
• Maintain accurate treatment records and progress notes.
• Work collaboratively with Chinese medicine practitioners and other therapists.

About you

• Diploma or higher qualification in Remedial Massage, Massage Therapy or a related discipline.
• Minimum one years' experience as a Massage Therapist or in a related therapeutic or rehabilitation environment.
• Extensive knowledge of human anatomy, muscles, soft tissues and recovery techniques.
• Demonstrated experience in remedial and therapeutic massage.
• Strong client consultation and communication skills.
• Professional and client-focused approach.
• Ability to work within a therapeutic clinical environment.
• Knowledge or experience in Traditional Chinese Medicine and Tuina is highly regarded.
• Salary of $80,000 per annum plus superannuation.
