Job description
We are currently seeking a Farm Manager who will be responsible for all farm operations across the year.
This is a permanent full-time role, based in a remote location in NSW, where free accommodation will be provided to the successful candidate.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and carry out the annual crop management activities, including pruning and topping, nutrition, pest and disease control and weed management
- Monitor crop health, development and maturity and decide optimal harvest timing
- Run and record spray and fertiliser programs in line with label requirements and chemical regulations
- Operate, monitor and maintain the irrigation system including bores, pumps, filters, mainlines and driplines
- Schedule irrigation based on soil moisture, weather, crop stage and water availability
- Carry out fertigation where used
- Record water use and help ensure compliance with water licence and metering conditions.
- Find and fix leaks, blockages and pump faults quickly to avoid crop stress
- Plan and lead the mechanical harvest
- Operate and supervise harvesting machinery and tractors safely and efficiently
- Coordinate harvest activities to maintain efficiency, crop quality and timely post harvest handling
Requirements
We are looking for someone who has:
- A qualification in agriculture, horticulture or agronomy (preferred)
- Experience in a commercial horticultural operation
- Able to work independently in a regional location
- Solid knowledge of farm operations
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Good safety awareness and a practical approach to problem-solving
- Good organisational and communication skills
