About the role:
As a hands-on Warehouse Supervisor, you will be relied upon to support the team and the Branch Manager. You will be responsible for safe and efficient operations within the warehouse, supervising staff, ensuring materials have been checked for specifications, quality and projected delivery dates.
Key areas of responsibility:
- Coordinate the unloading of incoming containers.
- Perform strict quality control (QC) checks on incoming stock
- Document and isolate damaged, short-shipped, or non-compliant materials
Physical Handling & Storage
- Execute and oversee the safe physical handling, stacking, and moving of materials by hand or with the use of Material Handling Equipment (MHE) such as forklifts and pallet jacks.
- Implement systems to sort and put-away stock to optimize floor space and prevent material damage.
- Secure items properly using shrink-wrap and strapping.
Inventory & Floorspace Management
- Coordinate regular cycle counts.
- Investigate and resolve the root causes of stock discrepancies.
- Manage and optimize warehouse floor space to maximize storage capacity.
- Designate specific zones for high-velocity items (slotting optimization), seasonal stock, and bulk storage.
Outbound Operations
- Schedule pick paths and layout logic.
- Conduct quality checks on outbound orders.
- Manage dispatch timelines and couriers.
- Conduct morning toolbox talks.
- Assign daily productivity targets.
- Manage shift schedules and roster gaps
Safety & Compliance
- Enforce PPE usage and forklift rules.
- Deliver scheduled safety training updates.
- Report any workplace hazards.
Site Maintenance
- Coordinate facility repairs (dock doors, lighting, HVAC).
- Enforce housekeeping standards for waste disposal and clear aisles.
- Monitor and reorder warehouse consumables (e.g., pallet wrap, packing tape, labels, shipping boxes, PPE).
Management Reporting
- Compile and present daily, weekly, and monthly operational reports to the Branch Manager.
- Escalate critical issues regarding safety, major inventory discrepancies, equipment breakdowns, or staffing shortfalls.
- Deliver comprehensive visibility across all aspects of warehouse operations, including volume throughput, cost-to-serve metrics, and budget variances
Skills and experience:
- At least 5 years experience operating a counterbalance forklift, picking and packing
- 5 years experience in a warehouse supervisory or team leader role
- Ability to work as part of a small team
Note: This is a permanent part-time role at 36 hours per week, with the benefit of a early Friday finish. On-site parking.
