PPK Mining Equipment is an original equipment manufacturer (OEM). The team are specialists in the maintenance, repair and overhaul of plant and equipment, tooling and consumables for the mining sector and related industries.

We have a world-class manufacturing and service centre at Tomago near Newcastle, a market-leading service and support centre at Port Kembla in Wollongong, a service centre at Mt Thorley in the Hunter Valley coal fields & a parts distribution hub in Mackay, QLD.

The role

We are seeking an experienced Branch & Business Development Manager to lead the day-to-day operations and continued growth of our Mt Thorley branch.

Reporting to the General Manager, this is a key leadership role responsible for operational performance, customer relationships, business development, people leadership and commercial outcomes.

You will take ownership to ensure the branch operates safely, efficiently and profitably while delivering a high level of service to our customers.

In this role you will:

Lead the day-to-day operations and performance of the Mt Thorley branch.

Develop and deliver operational and sales strategies that align with business objectives, budgets and revenue targets

Drive business growth by identifying new opportunities, monitoring market and competitor activity, and developing strong customer relationships.

Lead, motivate and develop operations teams, setting clear expectations, KPIs and accountabilities.

Ensure employees have the information, training and resources required to perform their roles effectively.

Provide accurate and timely reporting on branch performance to the General Manager.

Manage stock and resources to ensure efficient and timely product delivery.

Develop process improvement and cost-reduction initiatives to improve efficiency and profitability.

Work collaboratively with Engineering and other PPK ME branches to respond to customer feedback and identify new market opportunities.

Promote a strong culture of safety, quality, compliance and continuous improvement

Ensure incidents are appropriately reported and non-conformances are addressed.

Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, regulations, standards, client requirements and company policies.

About You

We are looking for a commercially minded leader with a proven track record in mining, mining services, manufacturing or a similar operational environment.

You will bring:

Proven experience leading a manufacturing or operational business within Mining or Mining Services.

Tertiary qualifications in Management, Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent experience

Strong commercial acumen and experience managing budgets, KPIs and business performance

A proven ability to improve, grow and develop an operational business

Strong business development and customer relationship skills

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships

A genuine passion for continuous improvement, innovation and positive change

Strong leadership skills and the ability to develop and motivate high-performing teams

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to quickly learn new systems
