About the Role

The Accountant ensures that each month’s financial and transactional accounting tasks are completed and reconciled in an accurate and timely fashion. Additionally, you will provide assistance to various sections of the finance function including year-end audit tasks and various statutory returns.

Key activities in this role will include:

  • Prepare month end financial accounts to profit and loss and balance sheet level, according to set timetables
  • Prepare year-end audit package for auditors
  • Provide information to the site Business Performance Analyst/Financial Controller for completion of month-end reporting package for Executive Directors

Your Contribution

The preferred candidate will hold a degree in Accounting, Finance or Business, CPA/CA Membership, as well as the following skills and attributes:

  • Sound technical and working knowledge of accounting for revenue, wages, supplies and fixed assets
  • A sound technical knowledge of GST and FBT reporting
  • Ability to learn and use new computer software applications
  • Ability to reconcile subsidiary ledgers and balance sheet accounts to the general ledger as well as correct reconciling items on a timely basis
  • Ability to code invoices to the respective expense or capital areas
  • Ability to communicate succinctly with peers and superiors, both verbally and in writing
