Full-time | Monday to Friday | Fixed-term for an initial six months due to approved funding

Lead meaningful work on Country

Choorechillum (Ngadjon-Jii PBC) Aboriginal Corporation is looking for an experienced Ranger Supervisor to lead and support our Ranger team.

This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys working on Country, leading people and delivering practical land management and conservation work.

You will coordinate the day-to-day work of the Ranger team, mentor and support Rangers, and help make sure projects are completed safely and to a high standard.

About Choorechillum

Choorechillum (Ngadjon-Jii PBC) Aboriginal Corporation represents the Ngadjon-Jii People on the Atherton Tablelands within the Wet Tropics Region. We work to protect and manage Ngadjon-Jii Country, preserve cultural and natural values and create opportunities for our community.

About the role

This is a full-time position working Monday to Friday and is fixed-term for an initial six months due to approved project funding.

  • Revegetation and natural regeneration.
  • Fencing and site preparation.
  • Debris removal.
  • Protecting waterways and wetlands.
  • Other restoration and conservation work.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead, supervise and support the Ranger team.
  • Plan and coordinate daily and weekly work.
  • Deliver land management and conservation activities.
  • Mentor and develop Rangers.
  • Help coordinate projects, resources and priorities.
  • Assist with budgets, reporting, timesheets and project progress.
  • Build positive relationships with Traditional Owners, community and stakeholders.
  • Make sure WHS requirements, policies and procedures are followed.
  • Work closely with the Senior Project Officer.

About you

  • Experience leading or supervising a Ranger, land management or field-based team.
  • Experience in land management, conservation or environmental work.
  • Good communication and organisation skills.
  • The ability to plan field activities and support team members.
  • Knowledge of WHS requirements.
  • Respect for Aboriginal culture and the ability to work well with Traditional Owners and community.
  • The ability to use, or willingness to learn, GPS, GIS and other technology.

Qualifications & requirements

  • Certificate III, IV or higher in Land Management and Conservation, or relevant experience.
  • Ability to work in field-based and regional locations.
  • Pre-employment drug and alcohol testing is required.
