Our region is about the size of Ireland, with a mix of regional and rural areas, covering an area of approximately 90,0002km.Mackay HHS provides a working environment that embraces professional development, builds capabilities, provides roles with variety and flexibility, supports staff to maximise their health and wellbeing and encourages work life balance.Visit: About the Department of MedicineThe Staff Specialist will join a multidisciplinary team of 18 FTE physicians representing a broad range of subspecialties, including Acute Medicine, Endocrinology, Respiratory Medicine, Infectious Diseases, Medical Oncology, Neurology, Nephrology, Rheumatology, Palliative Care Medicine, and Rehabilitation Medicine.The Department of Medicine is a dynamic, collaborative, and supportive workplace committed to high-quality patient care, education, and professional development.The General Medicine Department is accredited by the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) for Basic Physician Training and Advanced Training in General Medicine and works closely with Cardiology, which provides a 24/7 Primary PCI service, as well as Emergency Medicine (FACEM-led) and Intensive Care (CICM-led) services.Your opportunityThe Staff Specialist or Senior Medical Officer - Rehabilitation Physician is responsible for assisting the Director in provision of high-quality clinical services as part of the Department of Medicine, education of Medical Staff and Students, Allied Health, interested Community Groups and Nursing Staff, and active participation in patient safety, audit, research, and service planning activities.Your roleThe successful candidate would be responsible for providing high quality, evidence based medical assessment and management to patients requiring rehabilitation services across inpatient and outpatient settings.The position works as in integral member of a multidisciplinary rehabilitation team and is responsible for providing comprehensive medical care, coordinating treatment and discharge planning, and supporting patients to achieve optimal functional outcomes and quality of life.The successful candidate will contribute to the ongoing development and delivery of rehabilitation services across the health service with a focus on safe, effective and patient centred care.Clinical ScopeStroke and acquired brain injuryNeurological conditionsSpinal and musculoskeletal conditionsAmputationsOrthopaedic and trauma related rehabilitation needsDeconditioning and functional declineComplex medical rehabilitationDisability and chronic disease related functional impairmentFalls and frailty related functional declineVaccine Preventable Disease (VPD) RequirementsIt is a condition of employment for this role for the employee to be and remain vaccinated against vaccine preventable diseases as listed on the Role Description.This work is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 Australia License.
