Software Engineer
Wildlife Information Rescue And Education Service – Brookvale NSW
WIRES is undergoing a system overhaul and is looking for a software developer to join our team delivering solutions including backend services, API's, AI agents, and front-end development. The projects are primarily green fields covering a number of frameworks and platforms which will be both challenging and rewarding. The broad range of projects is perfect for someone with a high internal drive and an aptitude to match, with the role able to grow with the right candidate.
This is a 12-month fixed term contract with the potential for extension.
Key responsibilities
Building AI agents
Backend service and internal API's across multiple connected systems including Hubspot, AirCall, and custom rescue management software
Managing and/or assisting to resolve urgent after-hours issues when required, particularly to support emergency events as needed
Other projects as requested by management
About you
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field or equivalent technical experience
Experience in full stack software development, including web applications, APIs, databases and enterprise systems
Experience writing and maintaining PHP applications
Understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC), testing practices and secure coding principles
CRM experience, with Hubspot favoured
Highly organised, reliable, efficient and detail oriented
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
Strong conceptual, analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to multi-task
Proficiency in UK English spelling and writing
Nonprofit or NGO experience (advantageous)
Experience integrating with or developing with in HubSpot (advantageous)
Project management and change management skills (advantageous)
