Commercial & Plant Asset Manager

Overview

This is a rare opportunity for an experienced Commercial & Plant Asset Manager to take ownership of a substantial fleet and equipment portfolio within a well-established WA business.

Reporting directly to senior leadership, you’ll have the autonomy to drive strategic asset decisions, improve commercial performance, influence capital investment planning, and help grow a developing equipment hire operation.

This is not a traditional fleet management role. We’re looking for a commercially focused leader who understands how assets generate value, can analyse performance, and has the vision to unlock new revenue opportunities.

Job Requirements & Key Responsibilities

• Lead the commercial management of a significant fleet of vehicles, plant and equipment.
• Drive asset utilisation, profitability and return on investment across the portfolio.
• Develop and implement fleet growth, replacement and capital expenditure strategies.
• Analyse equipment performance, operating costs, utilisation rates and revenue generation.
• Oversee asset acquisition, financing, disposal and replacement decisions.
• Establish and review charge-out and plant hire rate structures.
• Develop preventative maintenance and servicing programs.
• Improve compliance, reporting systems, asset registers and operational processes.
• Build strong relationships with suppliers, financiers, manufacturers and industry partners.
• Identify opportunities to expand external plant and equipment hire activities.
• Work closely with operational leaders to forecast future equipment requirements and support business growth.

About You

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in Asset Management, Fleet Management or Plant Management.
• Strong commercial and financial acumen with the ability to analyse asset performance and profitability.
• Experience within civil construction, mining services, earthmoving, infrastructure or equipment hire environments.
• Sound understanding of asset finance, purchasing and lifecycle management.
• Experience developing hire rates, utilisation reporting and capital investment recommendations.
• Strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to influence senior leadership and make commercially sound recommendations.
• A proactive, entrepreneurial mindset with a focus on business growth and continuous improvement.
