About the role and your team
\n
This role is situated in our Statutory Lines practice group in an established team lead by Partner, Kate Watson. The industry work is Federal Workers Compensation matters. Our team is recognised for its expertise in workers’ compensation, acting for insurers, self-insured organisations, government agencies and major corporations across Western Australia, Canberra, and New South Wales.

We’re looking for a 2nd year law student to join our Perth office on a 2-3 day per week basis ideally with prior experience in Legal, Insurance or other professional services.

Key responsibilities include:

- \n
- Assist with and oversee all stages of the summons and T-documents processes \n
- Prepare chronologies \n
- Book medical appointments and examinations \n
- Organise service providers in relation to hearings, i.e. translators and Counsel. \n
- Legal research \n
- Social media surveillance \n
- Telephone calls and correspondence to the Administrative Review Tribunal, other parties’ solicitors and Counsel as required. \n
- Assist with providing advice and managing files in a clear and logical manner within required time frames whilst developing sound case management strategies. \n
- Conduct investigations, including sitting in on witness interviews and reviewing documents. \n
- Assist with the drafting of Tribunal documents (i.e. Statements of Facts, Issues and Contentions, Submissions etc.) \n
- Speak with witnesses and brief experts \n
- Prepare and engross reports for clients and claims managers \n
- Undertake work for and delegate work to other members of the team, including administrative assistants \n
- Ensure understanding and compliance of firm’s policies and procedures \n
- Stay abreast of industry updates including decisions and changes to legislation to determine ramifications for cases. Take a proactive approach to sharing that information with clients through newsletter articles \n

- Current law student \n
- High level oral and written communication skills \n
- Ability to work autonomously \n
- Strong attention to detail and research skills \n
- Previous experience within the insurance industry \n
