HammondCare pastoral care volunteers have an opportunity to support the spiritual and emotional needs of elderly clients living in their home.

As a pastoral care volunteer, you’ll be actively involved with a local Christian church, offering comfort, presence, and hope to those who need it most.<\/b>
\n <\/b>
\n <\/div>

Can you offer a listening ear and a prayerful heart to someone longing to be heard?<\/b>
\n <\/div>
\n <\/div>

We’re seeking a pastoral care volunteer to visit a kind widower once a fortnight. Though his mobility is limited, his heart is open. Since the passing of his wife, whose faith meant a great deal to her, he’s begun exploring his own spiritual questions. He loves country music, cherishes his family, and enjoys talking about life, current events, and what may come after. <\/b><\/span>
\n <\/b><\/p> \n

Your presence could be the highlight of his fortnight \- bringing conversation, connection, and spiritual companionship.<\/b><\/span>
\n <\/p>

\n <\/div>
\n You’ll supplement and complement the work of our HammondCare At Home Pastoral Care Coordinator, and under their direction you may:
\n <\/div>
\n <\/div>
\n * Support people to meet their spiritual needs
\n <\/div>
\n * Nurture spiritual development
\n <\/div>
\n <\/div>
Skills required for this role:<\/b>
\n <\/div>
\n <\/div>
\n \- High level of interpersonal skills, including strong empathy and listening skills.
\n <\/div>
\n \- Pastoral Care training for example Chaplaincy, Clinical Pastoral Education, or you could attend HammondCare pastoral care training\- Spiritual Care Series, in preparation to becoming a pastoral care volunteer.

\n Volunteering along side Pastoral Care can be a rewarding experience, both for the person you visit as well as yourself. Regular visits from volunteers can help to improve quality of life and help people feel less isolated.

Requirements<\/h3>
\n 18 years or older • National Volunteer Police Check arranged and paid for by HammondCare •
\n <\/div>
\n <\/div>
\n We'd be happy to discuss a suitable time during the week for a one hour visit between 9am and 4pm Monday to Friday, visits could be weekly to fortnightly depending on your availability.
