Control Systems Engineer \n

We are currently seeking a Control Systems Engineer to join a mining owner/operator in WA. This is an opportunity to get in early as they look to bring engineering capability in-house.

\n
This position will commence as a short-term contract, with the potential for extension based on project requirements and performance. It offers an excellent opportunity to work on a range of operational and project-based automation initiatives within a technically diverse environment.
\n
\n
The role will suit an engineer with hands-on experience in PLC, SCADA and instrumentation systems who enjoys a mix of design, troubleshooting, commissioning and operational support. Working alongside electrical, operations and project teams, you will play a key role in maintaining and improving plant automation systems across a range of brownfield projects for two process plants in WA.

Responsibilities \n
\n
- \n
\nDevelop, modify and troubleshoot PLC programs using Allen-Bradley / Rockwell Automation Studio 5000 platforms.
\n
\nConfigure, maintain and support Citect SCADA and Plant SCADA systems.
\n
\nPerform instrumentation configuration, calibration, loop checking and fault finding activities.
\n
\nSupport site commissioning activities, shutdowns and operational improvement projects.
\n
\nDiagnose and resolve issues associated with PLCs, SCADA systems, field instrumentation and industrial communication networks.
\n
\nRead and interpret P&IDs, electrical schematics, control schematics, single-line diagrams and I/O drawings.
\n
\nAssist in the development and maintenance of technical documentation including:

\nControl Narratives
\n
\nCause & Effect Matrices

\nI/O Lists
\n
\nTest Procedures and Commissioning Documentation

\n

\nWork closely with operations and maintenance personnel to optimize plant performance and reliability.
\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\n

\n
Experience & Skills \n
\n
- \n
\n3-5 years' experience in mining, mineral processing, manufacturing or heavy industrial environments.
\n
\nPractical experience programming and troubleshooting Allen-Bradley PLCs using Studio 5000.
\n
\nExperience supporting Citect SCADA and/or Plant SCADA systems.
\n
\nStrong understanding of industrial control systems and instrumentation.
\n
\nAbility to interpret P&IDs, control schematics and electrical drawings.
\n
\nExperience with commissioning, shutdown support and troubleshooting within operating facilities.
\n
\nFamiliarity with industrial communication protocols such as Ethernet/IP and Modbus.
\n
\nStrong problem-solving, communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
\n
\nAbility to work autonomously while contributing effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
\n

\n
Desirable Experience \n
\n
- \n
\nExperience with PowerFlex, Danfoss or similar VSD platforms.
\n
\nExperience with motor management and overload protection systems including E300 and TeSys T.
\n
\nUnderstanding of safety systems, interlocks and plant protection philosophies.
\n
\nExposure to industrial networking, managed switches and network architecture.
\n
\nKnowledge of alarm management, historians and process trending systems.
\n
\nExperience working with conveyors, crushers, pumps, stackers, reclaimers or similar mining equipment.
\n
\nExposure to FAT, SAT and commissioning activities.
\n
\nBasic understanding of MCCs and industrial power distribution systems.
\n
\nExposure to GE, Emerson or Siemens automation platforms would be advantageous.
\n

Qualifications \n
\n

\nDegree in Electrical, Instrumentation, Control Systems or Automation Engineering.
\n
\nAustralian working rights.
\n
\nCurrent driver's license.

\nAbility to travel to site when required
