About the position

The Payroll Officer will join our team based in Melbourne and will play a crucial role in ensuring the accurate and timely processing of our end-to-end fortnightly payroll and administrative payroll tasks.

We are open to flexibility in offering a 12 month fixed term part time or a fixed term full time position.

This position will be responsible for :

  • End to End processing of fortnightly payrolls
  • On-going maintenance of payroll system and leave planning system
  • Updating and maintaining payroll records
  • Liaising with staff and management on payroll related queries
  • Maintaining leave, sickness and overtime reports
  • Interpreting awards / agreements and contracts in relation to rates, overtime, shift allowance
  • Undertaking required reporting, both internal and statutory reporting
  • Payroll administration including setting up new employees, answering phone call queries and general administration.
  • Processing increases and calculation of back pays and queries
  • Calculating Annual Leave and LSL provisions / accruals
  • Assisting Payroll Manager with end payroll processing responsibilities including month end reconciliation
  • Supporting with reconciliation of payroll related General Ledger accounts

To be successful in this role you will have :

  • Experience in a similar position
  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail
  • Sound understanding & the ability to interpret Awards and Enterprise Agreements, while maintaining a commitment to confidentiality and privacy principles
  • Excellent organisation and time management skills
  • Ability to be flexible and work under pressure
