Our Client are a growing Fintech Business based in the Sydney CBD. Through continued growth they are looking to hire a Lead Software Engineer. This position is responsible for leading the design, delivery, and optimisation of enterprise systems, while providing technical direction, fostering team growth, and ensuring timely execution of priorities. The role balances hands-on technical and architectural guidance with driving team alignment, morale, and high-quality outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the architectural design and development of new/existing solutions across a wide range of Fintech/eCommerce projects.
• Maintain existing systems, fix bugs and roll out long term solutions.
• Actively contribute to the continuous improvement of the development and support process.
• Collaborate closely with developers, participating in code reviews, pairing and debugging to champion quality while maintaining velocity.
• Collaborate effectively with product managers, designers, and business stakeholders to align technical solutions with business goals.
• Promote a pragmatic engineering approach, balancing technical excellence with practical decision-making to deliver scalable solutions without over-engineering.
• Guiding the design and implementation of integrations with third-party services and internal APIs, ensuring reliability and maintainability.
• Manage and develop team members, providing clear direction, regular feedback, and growth opportunities while fostering a positive, high-performance culture.
• Own delivery outcomes, ensuring projects meet requirements and are delivered within agreed timeframes through effective sprint planning, prioritisation, and progress tracking.
• Ensure adherence to security best practices and regulatory requirements in system design and implementation.
• Maintain a high standard of coding, documentation and testing

Key Skills:

• Relevant tertiary qualifications in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent industry experience.
• Extensive software engineering experience, with demonstrated progression into technical leadership roles.
• Proven track record of mentoring engineers and contributing to team capability building.
• Deep technical proficiency across modern software stacks, architecture patterns, and API integrations.
• Practical experience with agile delivery methodologies.
• Expertise with cloud platforms, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps best practices.
• Extensive knowledge of NodeJS based frameworks (i.e. React, Nest.js, Next.js)
• Extensive knowledge of OOP languages (i.e. C#, Kotlin, Java)
• Strong knowledge of IaC platforms / frameworks (i.e. Terraform)
